no doubt you have heard about the nurse that thumbed her nose to the state and went out of the house in spite of being ordered to stay at home.

what is your opinion on this?.

I suppose going for a bike ride somewhat isolates a person from close contact, more so than riding on public trans. etc.

In Portland there is a woman who arrived from W Africa with a temp. and is now in hospital voluntarily. She was not involved in patient care over there.

I guess Jehovah was on the other side of the world that day smiting people.

Or maybe He was backing a professional athelete involved in a sporting event.

Very sad. The average JW is a good person, though misled.

The argument would be well taken that those poor people would be alive and well if they had skipped the rally.

The High Cost Of War

britain is refinancing some soverign war bonds dating from the crimean war, napoleonic war and wwi, 2 $billion worth.

2 century old debt.. our president has been reluctant to begin another war when the debt of the previous two wars hangs heavy.

those of the prowar persuasion have insisted on 'boots on the ground' a move that would require 100,000s of personnel in the middle east and allocating billions in debt to cover the cost.. "every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed" president eisenhower.

No surprise - war is costly in blood and treasure.

But in this world what are the options?

Defend yourself or become a victim of aggressors.

Has the US been after loot? Where's the oil, land and other resources that could have been confiscated?

Colonial Great Britain cannot make the same claim.

long before any kind of 'sites' it was -

1 . being an elder on the JC that was caught up in the WT dabbling in personal sexual matters between married people and the resulting chaos.

" " " " " " " " " " new light on personal sexual matters and new grounds for divorce.

2. Having my 12 yr old daughter become the target of a 21 yr old JW sexual predator who was the nephew of the uber elder who convinced the BOE that I was in the wrong to contact the police.

3. Running across a TV interview with Bill Cetnar and following up on his story.

4. A stupid CO visit that left me livid with the lack of love. Concentration on field service quotas. "If you don't publish 10 hrs a month you are not a JW!"

this led to my resignation as an elder.

5. The Jonestown massacre in Nov. of '78. A tradgedy that gave me a new perspective on high control religion.

So here I am, waiting to be struck down at Armaggeddon.

I was long gone before the CoC came out.

Do you have hope for mankind?

let me start off by acknowledging that my current mood/thoughts reflect the fact that ive watched a few documentaries recently (blackfish, surviving progress, etc.

) and they got me thinking about the future of mankind.

mainly the question, do i hold out hope for the future of mankind?.

OK, everyone. Hang on. This thread is whiplashing into politics at warp speed.

That's what happens when the government is always playing catch up.

As if the Obamazombies don't already have enough to deal with! Bless their faithful little brains.

Maybe we need a czar to head up the whole shebang and bring some leadership to the problem. (what?.....oh, never mind)

I apologize for using the term "white trash". I know better. Millions of good, decent people are poor and poorly educated.

There are white trash but they should not be lumped in with decent poor people.
