  ok so i know its not really anything to do with jwness but we are struggling with baby names and really can't think of one we both like.

  its getting a bit desperate as i'm due in about 8 weeks .. i'm getting bored of looking at the same old names on the baby names websites so any suggestions would be much appreciated (girls please).. **cash prize for the one we choose!

  i posted here a week ago some disturbing news for congregations being consolidated in britain.

  my goodness that was nothing !

  a letter was read today from bethel addressed to all congregations in britain that can only be described as the biggest news for years.the main points:.

  One might deduce that they see the writing on the wall and are cashing out the properties that have been sustained by the rank and file for years.

  Four congs sharing one hall could mean that 3 properties can be liquidated. These world wide real estate holdings could make the Brooklyn sell-off look like chicken feed. If they are calling in all congregation savings/pools, the cash flow must be amazing.

  Why don't parents of an abused child go straight to police, why go to an elder first??

  i hope i don't come across as judgemental but having read a lot on the current child abuse cases and the different threads on here, i am left wondering why on earth a parent of an abuse victim would go to an elder with the problem first and not straight to police?.

  as a parent myself i know that if anything like that happend to my child (this applies to when i was still an active jw as well as now) i would not hesitate in going to the authorities as soon as i found out, it wouldn't of crossed mine or my husbands mind to go to an elder.

  maybe after we had reported it but definitely never as the first port of call.

  i have words that irritate me and not always without reason.. my latest hate is the word: 'solutions' as used by so many businesses in their title these days.

  y'know, 'something innane business solutions' and such balderdash.. i loathe that word now.

  Always consider the shortened version of the name.

  Matilda - Matty.

  Emma - Em, Emmy.

  Mildred - Milly

  Elizabeth - Liz, Liza, Beth, Betty

  True story, I once had a trade aquaintance with a couple and the wife's name was Wilda May. Everybody called her Wilda May for short.
