...so annalice and i were discussing this topic the other day and now i pose it to you.
remember all those talks from the platform where the brothers encouraged the congregation that as far as putting in hours in the field ministry that we must remember that if brother a can only put in 5 hours a month and he puts that 5 hours a month in, then he is doing all that he can (applause, applause) and if brother b can put in 50 hours a month and he does, there is no difference between brother a and brother b, because they are both doing all they can in jehovah's work.. well then, why is it that if brother a faithfully puts in that 5 hours a week, he can't carry microphones, he can't lead the congregation in prayer and he can't hold any priveleges, because he doesn't put in hours that match the national average??
isn't that making brother a feel like shit and that he is unworthy?
Greendawn, your point is well taken.
I think it reveals why so many men who are in lowly trades, labor, janitorial, etc. find fulfillment in the org. They are in a completely different pecking order than they are in the "world". These priviledges mean everything to them. This is why it is so common to find what I call the 'Watchtower Nazi' brothers to whom their position in the org. or on committees is the balm for their bruised egos as men.

My feeling is that the fatal flaw in the JW business plan has always been the Armageddon/ two classes scenario. It has also been the core of their appeal. Most all other organized religions, pagan or Christian, teach that the payoff comes after death. This is critical to the marketing plan. This is fool proof, no refunds, no returns.
Even Orthodox Judaism avoids setting a time frame on the coming of the Messiah, thus, it's shelf life is indefinite.
I feel the WTS has already taken major steps, like redefining 1914, toward getting themselves out of the corner they had painted themselves into. I feel strongly that they are going to continue to dial in their followers to an open ended ,"pie in the sky in the sweet bye and bye" scenario.

You obviously are very good at expressing yourself. I would really like to read your post explaining what is holding you back from writing a Dis-ass letter that would peel the paint off the walls of the Kindgom Hall. I always wished there was a place to mark down 'not-at-homes' on the monthly report. I did really well with those. I included barking dogs in the yard as being a not at home.
i had drinks with a friend of mine who is still active in the "lie".. i asked him point blank if he still believes that the "end" will come in his life time.
he grew up as a dub and is in his early 40's.
he answered that he hopes so.
Fear of the whole shunning thing and it's ramifications (spouse,family friends and possibly even employment) holds a lot of people captive. Playing along is way easier than upsetting the above apple carts.
Add in to all the above pressures the fact that your entire, institutionalized way of life, such as the GB and other 'career' JW's have lived all their life is part of the sacrifice and you begin to appreciate why a member of the GB who makes the "truth sausage" and knows what goes into it has to bite his tongue and pretend it's all wholesome spiritual food that is going into the Watchtower. Yesiree, no rodent droppings, insect larvae or spoiled meat trimmings in this spiritual food!!

I am truly sorry that you, also, went through all that deception, immersion in hate...etc. by the WT Society. Like you, I'm sorry for all the wasted time and energy you have put into a deadend cult. But I especially want to apologize and express my deepest regrets for your ongoing confusion about believing there is an intelligent, divine being, aka -"GOD". Unfortunately, this can be one of the sad aftereffects of being CULTivated. Hopefully, in time, you will be able to finish the balance of your awakening process and come out into the wonderful light of reality.
random memory of the week while drinking my double single this morning.

a single mother pioneer sister with low income was having doubts about being able to continue pioneering due to having vehicle troubles, lots of expensive repairs versus no income to get them fixed.
Isn't it interesting how the JW 'little people" learn the art of intrepreting 'signs and portents' on their own after being exposed to the good example of the Society professionals?? How do you like the following convenient reasoning:
The Watchtower told us about a witness who lived in a bad neighborhood who had stayed home from the meeting one night (implying that they didn't have a good excuse) and was killed by a stray bullet that came through the living room window. "If they had gone to the meeting they would have had JoeHoba's protection"
Less than a week after this there was a local elder who was killed by a drunk driver who ran a stop sign. In his funeral talk the scripture that talks about "time and unforseen circumstances befall us all" was used to explain how such a bad thing could happen to one of JoeHoba Dodds good people.
We don't exactly have a coffee cup "roll up the rim" contest out here on the left coast but we do have a promotion going on with a similar idea, only it's for condoms.
