The Watchtower 3rd Reich is trying to plug all the gaps. The internet, family connections with non believers, they are so vulnerable to critical inspection they are continually trying to make the organization hermetically sealed from the outside. How ironic for an organization that makes its bread and butter by trying to convert with an aggressive door to door campaign to undermine other peoples beliefs. They call it separating the sheep from the goats. They can dish it out but they can't take it. And if they tear apart loving family blood relationships that's just too bad. It is just another form of the Kool Aid drinking they demand of their followers.

I came home to find my wife crying over THAT article.
by jambon1 ini came home today to find my wife crying whilst reading the 'when a loved one leaves jehovah' article.
its been a good few months now and i can appreciate how she feels.
but it just irritates me how my disagreeing with this religion has such a catastrophic effect on our everyday lives.

Lil,
I am thinking positive thoughts for you. You are taking on a lot right now, but you're doing it all for the best of reasons - family -family - family. You are strong.

Yates verdict
by sammielee24 inthe andrea yates verdict came down again and it was not guilty.
she will be sent to a mental facility instead of prison where in time, and after therapy, she may in all liklihood be reintegrated into society at some point.
what do you think of the verdict?

She has been judged insane. So? The kids are just as dead as if she were 'normal'. She should be executed or put in a dark hole for the rest of her life. Her husband is a pathetic idiot. He should be made to bear some responsibility for what happened right under his nose. Everyone know this is right, but by the time it is processed through our system of "justice" it is all jabberwocky. Up is down, black is white, etc.

Sort of morbid question
by unbeliever inthis came to my mind after i read 24k's would you go back thread.
just say when armageddon came jehovah gave you one last chance to repent of your apostate ways and live for eternity with jw's.
would you take jehovah up on this offer or ask him to strike you dead?

Now, wait a minute folks. Let's not be hasty. The hypothetical question implies that we are standing before Jah and and while people are being vaporized around us we are given a last chance to change sides. (Let's forget for a moment that this is NOT the scenario expected or preached by the JWs) So it's kind of like the Catholic last rights/absolution thing, nothing to lose. OF COURSE I would say "I'm sorry. I'm going to be a good boy from now on". Then I could look forward to jumping on my lion and riding over to brother "Full time pioneer, never got laid" 's house and saying, "Hey, my brutha' How's it hangin'?. Let's go play on the den of on asp, you dumb asphole!"

I observed a situation in the cong. where an MS was a professional auto mechanic. He was a very easy going, quiet kind of guy. He was constantly being approached for free advice and this, of course, led to him doing work on fellow JW's cars in the eves and weekends. He never charged for his time, just the cost of parts. One elder in particular took advantage of this with his 3 vehicles. He was able to afford a regular shop but he couldn't resist brother freebie. It led to an ugly situation where some work got very involved and expensive and he took the MS before two others (me being one) to invoke Matt. 18. I took the MS bros. side and told the elder right in front of all that I thought he had been taking advantage. The MS quit going to meetings and was removed. Ugly, tacky situation.

Just reading about it in the Wall Street Journal. A 5 minute shower uses 2.34 gallons of water less than a bath or 854 gal. per year. My wife takes two showers a day and I take one. If these were baths that would be almost 2200 gallons a year!
So, which is your choice?

Panhandlers piss me off!
by Nosferatu inyesterday, my brother and his son were in town visiting.
me and the wife decided to go out and get some pizza to bring back for supper.. when we pulled up to the pizza shop, a guy came up to the car window and gave us his sob story about how he had cancer removed, how he refused to stay in the homeless shelter, and presented a stack of papers stapled together along with his mb health card.
he asked for any change that we may have.

There was a man with no arms sitting in a wheelchair near the entrance to a large shopping mall. He had a small cardboard sign propped in his lap which said "Please help. It's not your money I want" When asked what it was he wanted he said he just needed someone to scratch his ass.

Lovely Lil, Lola 28. Don't misunderstand. This topic is about "panhandlers". We have helped people whose situations we knew of first hand. As a child I remember my mother inviting over a neighbor who was having a hard time to go through our veg. garden and take home a large box of food. (We were always on the verge of poverty ourselves.) I know first hand of charities right here in Portland that provide "no questions asked" assistance. I worked with one charity where I walked in with a prominate local business man and we had a spaghetti, garlic bread and salad lunch. We sat at tables with obvious winos and bums, but at least they were being given a meal, not cash. (Of course, we left a generous donation in the box when we left.) No one asked us anything. Same goes for places that hand out donated clothes, etc. All, I'm saying is that there are probably reputable organized charities in your area that could use your few dollars a lot more effectivly than a street person. I know that you can call charities and ask about specific families who need help. Catholic charities are some of the best. Most of the street people are "professionals" . But, of course, it's your money.

I would never give a dime to a beggar. But I do contribute to established charities who provide food, clothing and shelter. I feel those who hand money to strangers are really doing it for their own self-image of being morally superior to others. They must realize that in most all cases they are enabling and encouraging druggies and alcoholics and are contributing to continuance of that lifestyle. Hard to call that "helping".
