In her book, "Write Away", Elizabeth George begins with part 1, chapter 1, Story is Character.

She disusses the most vital part of telling a story. The skill of sketching a real person, that is, a distinct person with a unique personality. Even a minor character can be described in a few words as a real person. The ethnic taxi driver who picks up a main character, for example, can have a picture of his wife and 4 kids on the dash. He appears in a short paragraph and never is mentioned again. But now he is a real person.

Examples of characters that evoke an entire book are everywhere. From Captain Ahab, Ebenezer Scrooge, Aticus Finch. etc. is endless.

as many of you know, i made the "big news" statement when kerry louderback-wood's scholarly article about watch tower's blood misrepresentation that was published in the journal of church and state was just about to be published.

i was excited about it because lives were at stake and weve never had such an article before to be able to use to show how the watch tower misrepresents the blood issue through its literature and people die because of it.

I started posting here because of Barb's original BIG NEWS thread. It was very suspenseful for several days and when the BN was revealed some were let down, as barb as recalled above.

Hello? Ever heard of the Mormon Church reversing itself on polygamy due to secular laws?

Have you heard about the Catlickstroubles over sex abuse by priests?

I remember when disfellowshipping announcements included the specific reason, i.e., adultery, fornication, etc. The WT gave all kinds of self righteous, so-called 'scriptural' backing for this practice. But when they started getting sucessfully sued for slander they dropped it like a hot potato. They changed it to a blanket "conduct unbecoming a Christian" for a while and when that still didn't stop the suits, they dropped that too.

Two angles here

1. Huge monetary damages and 2. Many JW's WILL take a hard look at the faithful and discreet slave. Many are on the edge anyway. The straw indeed.

For a long time I also went to 12 pt. but quit bothering with that awhile back. Several posters seem to be irritated by this. Strange, but they also seem to be the folks who don't truly have agape love for me...lol... Hard to believe I rub people the wrong way I know, but it seems to be connected.

Anyway, I am, as usual, willing to please. Please give me your input.

This is my current posting set up. I will stop using it if it is distracting from the nuggets of wisdom I write.

Those who have been in the org for years and years pick up on the way the Bible prophecy game is played and many of them do freelance speculation. The Watchtower doesn't have to stick their neck out in print that much anymore on specific world events.

Kind of like playing Dungeons and Dragons?
