  i have a friend that was dumb enough to allow two elders in his house at the same time to talk to him, he let them in.

  i have told him over and over again never to talk to two elders at the same time.

  i'll get to the point.

  What's the worst response a person ever said to you in the field service?

  i remember knocking on a door in the field service, and the girl who answered the door, looked at me and said in french, "allez vous faire crosser" .

  although i didn't laugh, i found it very funny.

  the brother with me also had a smile on his face, but didn't say a word, as we walked back to the car.

  the guy answered, looked me and my buddy over and said in a I-can't-believe-you-have-the-nerve voice, "It's Christmas." He didn't yell it, that I could've handled. But this shock, this disbelief, this dumfoundedness at our total disregard for his family's and our own culture's traditions -- it ate through me like a knife attached to a chainsaw.

  Touching - those were the kind of responses that really left me feeling sick inside.

  As an extremely shy little girl, it was sheer cruelty to be sent out into neighborhoods armed only with my little 10cent magazines, hoping fervently not to be seen by anyone I knew (and feeling guilty as hell for that hope). Those hours just had to be longer than 60 minutes each.......................

  I'm Fading.... From This Board

  as 2004 winds down and my 4th year of association at this board winds down as well, my posting stats accurately reflect a transitition that been going on for me with respect to the jw religion, a process that is quite natural and healthy.

  Wow....as a Newbie (but very old exjw) it was really neat to read the entire thread, picking up one year later.

  Thank you, Rocketman - and I agree that it is healthy to let all this diminish in your thoughts. The anger can be unhealthy with so little outlet for it and that's why the Big News offers potential for activism. Sitting around kvetching can be healing - but after awhile you need to go take a shower and get some fresh air.

  Another example: I can thank Ray Franz for writing Crisis of Conscience because it was instrumental in bringing myclose family member out of the borg. I had suffered for ten years as the black sheep apostate, literally disowned by my family.
