College deletions?

according to our new co, elders nor their children are allowed to go to college.

my dad is being deleted.

evidently new material was presented at the elder school.

or you have here individuals that are exceeding their authority on their own initiative.

Sweet Jesus! Don'tcha know it happens all the time in officious, policing-type organizations - SS, military (Abu Ghraib)? And don't think the upper echelon doesn't know about it and tacitly condone it by a slap on the wrist or looking the other way.

These guys in the local congs are not Supreme Court justices - but they are given the rule books and sent out there to police the ignorant R&F - sometimes they have to shoot from the hip. At some point they have to interpret the "laws" to fit a specific situation. Is it any wonder they dork up the whole thing on a regular basis?

But for some of the staunch Guardians among us a little overstatement--when done out of loyalty to the organization--is the right thing to do.

And they can always hide behind "imperfect men" if they get caught. However, if they are "caught" by the WTS, it will be wink wink nudge nudge - don'tcha know?

i hope all of you genx-r exjw will get a kick out of this story from my childhood.

i was just talking to jt and he says i should post it..... my daughter is studying wwi history in school.

i told her that when i was in 10th grade, i had a social studies teacher named nancy galbraith.

Isn't there something in the Bible about "your children asked for bread and you gave them stones"? Or was that Shakespeare? Anyhoo.........the approved publications we were given really hung us out to dry.........

i have a science and math background so i naturally want to quantify things, model things, and analyze things.. i have heard folks here frequently discuss the pendulum swing of the jw.

for awhile they are full of zeal.

they perform all their duties flawlessly.

CYP - this narrows it down! Lots to say on this, but for now - "nature abhors a vaccuum" - and humans are natural creatures! As pointed out in this forum many times, so many JWs confronted with the real truth about the bOrg take the position that "if this isn't the truth, then what is?" or some such variation on that theme. Obviously, the prospect of being left with a vaccuum makes them very uncomfortable.

It is usually more effective to fill up the jar with something else rather than dumping out the WTS contents and having an empty jar.

Make sense?

Anybody answered personal adds from dating services?

i am friends with a divorced woman.....(true to myself, because i have once been one i share my time with one so she isn't so blue and "alone").

she visits me and shows me her online dating sites and the things "guys" say about themselves.

it's quite entertaining and we laugh together as she shares me her online "winks".. one was from a guy that is "fiesty and sassy".............

If you happen to fall in love with a person who is overweight, the weight will not be a turn off.

Very true. However, we don't just "happen to fall in love" - physical attraction is a huge part. And there are certain preferences that have nothing to do with being prejudiced. I'm 5'8" - so I have always liked men who were fairly tall. Not only am I not "prejudiced" against short guys, I dated a guy who was 5'2" for awhile. Quite frankly, it was not a good feeling for me when we walked down the street - we couldn't hold hands because his was too close to the ground for me to reach! Ten years later, we are still very good friends.

It has been a long time since I was around the borg or read any litertature -

could someone explain for me the use of the word "delete" in the WTS context?

One could probably develop a formula that gave a number value to such variables as family structure, education, current age, age of coming into the borg, past experience with religion, economic situation, etc., then put it on a graph along with the trajectory of the WTS' "present truth" and come up with some fairly accurate indicators.

If the WTS is in a downswing, such as right after the 1975 debacle, or the child molests, etc. or in an upswing such as capitalizing on tragedies like Katrina, that would have an effect on individuals who are disposed to be swayed by such.

Interesting notion and with enough information gathering, I do believe it is possible to make predictions for individual responses as well as trends for larger societal groups.

It would be vital to have a thorough understanding of neuroses and the concept of cognitive dissonance, as well as algebra.

Well, I feel rather strongly about this - I met my Significant Other this way.

He is wonderful! Handsome, generous, funny, smart - everything I wanted and more! Had I not weeded through the rest (no one awful at all) I would never have found him.

Importantly, we were both very honest about ourselves because we were both seriously looking for our last relationship, not just dating.

You can meet liars and losers in church, through mutual friends, at the grocery store - so why is on-line considered so risky? I really don't understand why, if you have a disappointing "meet" that the whole concept of on-line dating is blamed. You have a chance to meet so many more people to choose from than the traditional ways of meeting. I thank my lucky stars that I did not give up before I met "the one."
