Guilt by association? After all that is the WTS stock in trade - to paraphrase - "don't even think about associating with apostates or you are just as guilty." It is documented that the WTS has harbored child molesters, i.e., not reported them to the police, and hushed up numerous occurences of child sexual abuse. Therefore aren't all JWs culpable of child abuse by their very own definition of "guilt by association"? Doesn't that in effect make all JWs child abusers? Or does it?

I HATE THIS DEATH CULT!!!!
by avishai inright now my cousin, who has'nt even been a dub for years is likely dying because of the blood issue.
she signed no blood stuff likely due to her parents and a likely hlc member, jim rife.
she signed it apparently in a drugged or severely stressed state right before they put her into an incuced coma.

Avishai, Having read many of your posts since I've been on the past week, I respect your position - and my heart goes out to you. The rage against the ignorance is such a helpless feeling. Crystal

Could JWD be part of bible prophecy?
by JH ini was just wondering if there is a verse in the bible that points out what jwd is doing as far as exposing the watchtower false prophet?

Let's see....the Holy Bible as a sort of National Enquirer for the ages, only in code?
Cripes - didn't we leave off that kind of thinking when we left the borg? Its a ding-dang BIG world out there, boys and girls, and we, WTS, and even JWD are but a miniscule speck of flotsam on the rear-end of a gnat with 5 minutes to live.
Thanks for today's laugh!

My Unhappiness is because of Witness Thinking I have not given up
by joelbear inits pretty clear to me that my continued depression and anxiety is mostly tied up with even after all these years, still basically thinking like a witness.
1. i expect things to be perfect.
i expect myself to be perfect and am continually disappointed.

Agree in principle with your observations, Joel, and all that has been said by those with experience. And BTW, good on you for the courage to look deeply within.
The fact is, (and of course I'm right),
that none of us really know what
our lives would have been like
without the influence of JW-ism
But I do know that you don't have to be
exposed to JW-ism to experience perfectionism and self-doubt.
Most of the great philosophies address, in some way, the wisdom of living in the moment - we have to constantly be reminded to strive for this goal, because we forget constantly.
While I blame JW-ism for a crummy start and some lingering baggage - some of my problems are just common to the human race.
I think it helps to not feel like the helpless victim in absolutely everything.

Dumbing down of WT literature can be measured mathematically.
by hamsterbait inevery magazine on the news stand is very carefully aimed at a target market.. .
it has long been known that how information is presented makes a big difference to who will read it.
you will agree that the ny times or scientific american are more erudite than the national enquirer or the toronto star.. .

holy spirit and JW's... are they way off or what???
by in a new york bethel minute ini remember a talk about 10 years ago about how we were not supposed to pray for a "portion" of holy spirit... and that, even though it is not a person and it's just his active force, it's not distributed in portions... you either have it or you don't.
but i notice a lot of witnesses still pray to god and ask for a portion of his holy spirit.
i find this very offensive and ignorant... anybody else notice this and how i can approach a jw about the proper way to pray about this matter???.

Maybe the holy spirit is like a big pizza pie. Here's your portion:
Or if it is poured out, maybe its more like a pitcher of beer. Here's your portion:

How many ex JWs return to the Borg?
by greendawn insomeone told me there are statistics showing that ultimately one third of jws leaving will go back to the borg.
this is not the general impression one gets from this forum.
so what's really happening?

I really think you'd have to define, quantify and qualify terms:
- "go back to the organization"
- apostate
- inactive
- believer
- unbaptized
- "leave the organization"
A lot of people on this site are still considered "in" the organization, even though they don't believe it. So maybe a better question would recognize those who are at the extreme ends of the continuum - from raging, active apostate (that would be me ) to a totally lobotomized Stepford witness who would rat out his own grandmother for humming Jingle Bells. That leaves an awful lot of folks in the middle - like deer caught in the headlights (or a bear cub playing with his pee-pee.)

Do you still keep track when the Circuit Overseer visits your congregation?
by JH inwhen i first faded many years ago, i always wanted to know when the co was visiting my congregation.
i would always becareful during that week not to answer the door, just incase he came by.
avoiding them was my way to freedom.. i didn't want him to bible talk me back to going to meetings.

I remember once, he came at my door all alone. Knowing that I don't answer the door to the witnesses, and knowing that I didn't know him, he came alone trying to fool me, but he didn't fool me, cause I recognized the CO's car parked in front, so he never got to talk to me.
Hey, just so you don't give in to full-blown, bug-sh*t paranoia!
When I was doing my 'fade' the CO and PO called on me - a young single sister (23 year old virgin, too). They questioned me closely about sexual matters - disgustingly, I believe now that the CO was getting off on it. Damn! Anyway, the topper was they wanted to know specifically why I was not interested in marrying young Bro. B, a strong witness who was interested in me. I said we had dated but I was not in love with him. They clearly indicated that wasn't important - 'love could come in time.'
