Is Satan a philosopher?
by DavidChristopher inwhos truth would he be searching for?
seems kind of silly to search after your own "truth".
wouldn't the object be to have others searching for your "truth" is that a form of worship?

Jesus, the people of his day, and of theology
by drew sagan ini'm sure this has been discussed before on this board, but since i'm new i'll throw it out there anyway.
the watchtower never reveals what the people (mainly jews) of jesus day held as to the afterlife.
it is true that the scribes and pharisees had terrible ideas mixed with greek philosophy and that they stumbled the people.

been my experience that the "truth" is "common sense". If you come up with a theory that a hot stove will not burn you, and try to make others test it out for you, I would say that would be "wrong". However, if you touch the stove first, and no harm comes to you you would be "right". What I am saying is, If you want others to follow you, take the lead, don't assert something if you are not willing to go first, and do it yourself. That makes you a hypocrite. Lead by example, not words. If you believe I am wrong, it is your duty to prove it to me. If I am wise, I will thank you, and get myself back on the right track. Then, BOTH of us will be happy. these "disagreements" are nessesary to learn new things. However, when you put a gun to my head and tell me to do what you say, because I should have faith in you, because you "said so". I think that is where the "disagreement" goes too far, and nothing is learned. I don't see anybody truly happy then.

Christianity and Philosophy - Was it a good mix?
by PeLe, ThE Soccer King inhistory shows that philosophical thinking influenced theology and christendom doctrines development in many ways.
some people like 18th century historian edward gibbons see similarities in plato trinity and nicean creed.
others have seen for instance, in plato doctrine of ideas (that there is a perfect spiritual-like world where the ideal forms exists) or in soul immortality speculations a reference of some christians future hope to be in heaven and not in material world in earth.

If God spoke through Paul, and God created Plato, Did Paul get it from Plato? Or did "Paul", recognize a "truth", agree, and expand it further?

So if you torture and kill a "terrorist", he sees himself as a "freedom fighter"? Think he will regret his choice? Where does it end? What is the solution? proving to him he is a "terrorist"? So I would be considered a "spiritual terrorist" by all religons, but can they prove to me I am?

It is ok Pete, I have a thick back, and I don't need to look down on people to make myself feel better about myself. you are simply needing some proof, as am I. Difference is, I am looking for it. I would say you simply have more"patience" than me.

Whos truth would he be searching for? Seems kind of silly to search after your own "truth". Wouldn't the object be to have others searching for your "truth" is that a form of worship? Although, I never heard it said "this means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true satan." WHO would want others to seek after and be satisfied with THEIR "truth"? hmmmmm Am I to be satisfied with Jonah's Witnesses "truth", and not question it? If I don't? Can I get into trouble for that?
