why did i ignore basic common sense for so long?
I have been ask on a number of occasions to tell my story of my life as a Witness. And every time I find myself amazed I had ever believed some of the stuff I am saying. Of course when you are born in some of it was never really questioned but then after I became an adult I really should have checked this stuff out instead of just taking they're word for it.
So yes I personally sometimes feel very stupid for having bought into it for so long.

i wanted to share some very cool (in my opinion) news.
in two months i will have been gone from bethel for 14 years and attended my last meeting 11 years ago.
i spent 11 years at bethel sacrificing all of my 20's to the borg and finding myself at age 32 with no resume or real work experience.. it has been a tough haul with the majority of my energy going into building a career.
That is an awesome story and very encouraging. Thanks for sharing that.
from beginning to end, how long did it take you, when you first started your personal questioning and re-evaluating the watchtower organization and concluding that the wts was definitely not true?
my sister is asking this.
some of us (who left a couple decades ago - pre-internet) are saying it took about 10 years on average.
It only took abut 3 months to see it was mostly BS. And even after that I would second guess myself for about the next year. But it still took me another 5 years to quit altogether and another 2 years after that to move on.
for all those that read my post from the other day, i have been asked that if i am to miss any meetings i must call one particular elder per his request.
so on sunday i woke up and decided to stay home from the meeting and test my theory that this guy is on a power trip.
i "had a headache" which in all reality was a small hangover from the night before.

I suspect (although I could be wrong) that if you removed the foreign language numbers from the US you would find something similar although not quite as drastic in the US
