i have come to understand that people who are jehovahs witnesses are for the most part, good and honest people.

just like people in other religions or for that matter, people who dont practice any religion.

and, like those other people, they also have their minority of people who are selfish, deceptive and not very nice.

there are two accounts in the bible centered around jesus that were a great help to me as i was leaving the control of the watch tower society.. to me, the watch tower society, with it's governing body and local representatives, the elders, were my religious leaders.

i was, in all truth, a religious person.

Gran is ill, but still won't let me visit.

i totally disagree with the shunning practise and even as a jw i did not think it was a godly practise and refrained from it.. my jw gran has been admitted into frail care because her legs and feet are going numb.

i wanted to go visit her to offer help, be it financial, emotional, or even physical, but was told not to go as she still doesn't want anything to do with me.....your loss gran.. .

Are you superstitious and/or what is your take on those who are?

was reading on another thread (ouija board) and it got me to thinking about a friend of mine who was almost.

paranoid about anything and everything.

he was very superstitious.. when he helped me on a few job sites and would say stuff like don't walk under the ladder or careful with that.

i've recently got a comcast movie package that gives all encore, hbo, cinemax, stars, showtime and ifc and other indie movies.

there are so many good movies that have been made that just didn't garner enough attention.. what movies do you think are good that weren't huge successes?.

jw dicussion boards come and go.....most people have good intentions and try to make thier board,the best they can... good intentions don`t make a board.....good intentions don`t make a board ,that has reached super star status,in dub world!!...

jwd/jwn is a frigg`n phenomenon in dub world!

I lurked briefly on a site that I believe was kind of the beginning of this board (H2O) But I wasn't ready for it. Then about 5 years ago I started lurking on JWD and did that for a year before I got the nerve up to join and slowly but surely I worked up the courage to post.

The one constant has been that even when my post may not make sense nobody ever made me feel like that was true I always felt safe here to revel as much or as little as I wanted and more important to read and learn from the more active posters here. It's a tribute to Simon and all of you regular posters here who serve and protect the rest of us as we tread into a new chapter of our lives.

So thanks to you all!!!

films with possible jw scenarios

i just read a post there about "the village" and how it has similarities to jw life.......it was a good wee film and i can definitely see the links..... it made me think of other films and programs where the scenarios have a very familiar feel to them...... star trek being the obvious one with "the borg"....... "fiddler on the roof".........obviously this was not meant to be jw's........but the similarities were amazing and i remember thinking it was perfectly normal that a family would cut their daughter out of their lives simply because she fell in love with someone from a different background......oh how my feelings have changed!.

any more you can think of?.
