Everyone who comes to these forums is damaged goods because you are seeking companionship outside of Jehovah's congregations. Simple as that. "and most of all being a former Jehovah's Witness makes me feel less than perfect." Well Duh!!!! You made that choice to go against Jehovah so you are very damaged. I can't believe the stupidity on here.

>Sweetest Day???? And, HOW did wedding anniversaries get to be OK and not birthdays??? ARGHHH! Sorry, I have >not looked at a school brochure in 20 yrs, slept or zoned during any child or parent oriented meeting and >have no idea on this. Thank you much!!! I hate it when this topic comes up because the motivation is always worldly. Wedding anniversaries are celebrated because they are an accomplishment. The anniversary of one's birth is not an accomplishment. There is simply no reason for a 5 year old to be celebrating the anniversary of his birth. No reason. It is not that there is anything wrong with birthdays, but Jehovah's people voluntarily give them up to help their brothers and sisters to stay separate from the world. The celebrating of them is purely a following of the world. When someone sees that it is ones birthday, a worldly person would say "Happy birthday". That is such an automatic expression that it is meaningless. Is the one saying that going to do anything to help that one have a happy day or is that just "calling on the gods" to help? Any special "happy" day is just plain stupid.

I heard on the news that the Vatican issued a statement calling for a
boycott of Davinci Code movie and book. They have done that with other
things. And protestant groups issue boycotts and protests.
The Watchtower does not do that. Jehovah's Witnesses know Bible
principles that lead us to not want to do those things so any
such boycotts are voluntary. -

When Did You Start To S L O W Down In The "Truth"???
by minimus inwhen you look back at it, what got you to slow down?
?
-
grissom6471
Why would anyone want to do that? When people do slow down they need to examine why and make corrections to speed up. It's that simple.

The cards are stacked in the WTS favor this summer
by Gregor inthe upcoming dc program, whatever it is, will have a very receptive audience.
if the wts was ever going to do anything audacious, now is the time.
they will be allowed to get away with anything they say.
-
grissom6471
I don't see what that has to do with the Watchtower or stacked in favor, that is just a fulfillment of Biblical prophesy.

Loss of Elders
by metatron inlarge numbers of jw congregations are going to be trouble long before they lose their last elder to death or resignation.. most congregations i know have at least one - and often several - elders who can barely function at all, due to illness, old age.
or just plain inability to accomplish anything.
the society seems loathe to remove these men, despite their 'elder in name only'.

Then stop being so negative and do what the Bible says and reach out and help the brothers and sisters.

Use of the term Borg
by grissom6471 insome have unaffectionately referred to us as the borg, the brooklyn organization.
but i don't see that as a bad thing.

Some have unaffectionately referred to us as the BOrg, the Brooklyn Organization. But I don't see that as a bad thing. Consider the Borg. They can assimilate and adapt to increase their defenses and do that quickly as an organization as a whole. When a borg ship gets hit by the Fed's phasers, then the borg will analyze it and then regenerate and implement a defense for that and send the information to the whole organization to protect everyone. Christians work the same way. 1 Cor 10:1 1 Now I do not want YOU to be ignorant, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea 2 and all got baptized into Moses by means of the cloud and of the sea; 3 and all ate the same spiritual food 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they used to drink from the spiritual rock-mass that followed them, and that rock-mass meant the Christ. Here Paul tells them that they are an organization. Not a Borg but a Corg. An organization that was in Corinth but included much more. He was not telling them that they had freedom to follow their convictions. In fact he was telling them the opposite. Following their convictions ended up in ignorance. He was giving them information to assimilate and then to adapt. 6 Now these things became our examples, for us not to be persons desiring injurious things, even as they desired them. Assimilate this and adapt. A Christian organization can move fast to Assimilate and adapt. 7 Neither become idolaters, as some of them did; just as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink, and they got up to have a good time.” Assimilate this and adapt. A Christian organization can move fast to Assimilate and adapt. 8 Neither let us practice fornication, as some of them committed fornication, only to fall, twenty-three thousand [of them] in one day. Assimilate this and adapt. A Christian organization can move fast to Assimilate and adapt. 9 Neither let us put Jehovah to the test, as some of them put [him] to the test, only to perish by the serpents. 10 Neither be murmurers, just as some of them murmured, only to perish by the destroyer. 11 Now these things went on befalling them as examples, and they were written for a warning to us upon whom the ends of the systems of things have arrived. Assimilate this and adapt. A Christian organization can move fast to Assimilate and adapt. The organization is not in Brooklyn, it is in Patterson, no, it is in Wallkill. No it is in Toronto, London, or are we just speaking of the branch office locations. The organization is throughout the world. In the same manner, the Watchtower sends out the same instruction for us to assimilate and then to adapt to it so we can have defenses that will protect us. Freedom to follow our convictions does none of the sort. Sure many can disagree with the teachings, but people do not have proof of the contrary. So there are only arguments.

the Big News & 60 Min. or 20/20 or Dateline ?
by carla inwhat if we did a letter writing campaign to one of the big news shows about the 'big news' and asked them to check into this?
i think it would require large amounts of mail to get noticed.
any thoughts on this?
-
grissom6471
That is not big news because it is not necessary and not relevant.
The Watchtower Society has nothing to do with people's acceptance
or rejection of blood.
The Bible says to abstain from blood.
Jehovah's Witnesses obey the Bible.
But then I am not sure what this controversy is all about.
What is the negative side about refusing blood?
