Let's face it. One man makes a mistake and Billions of people suffer for for it. Some in the worst kind of suffering possable. Would any human father simply stand by and let it happen even though it would be easy for him to help. And the reason he does nothing is to make a point that there would be some of his family that care enough for him to not blame him for all this. It's pathetic.

GB and Doctrine review/change
by african GB Member insome jw doctrines which were implemented years ago were clearly never thought out wisely,.
i wonder if the gb would ever consider reviewing for example, the blood doctrine which causes so many unneccesary deaths amongst jws.. and then again they would be careful not to just change it as this could possibly be met with an uproar from those who lost loved ones due to this doctrine..

That is now the case in many of their doctrines. With blood, minor fractions are now allowed, vaccinations are o k and transplants are now a conscience matter.
Years ago they changed alternative service from a big no no to it could be alright now it's up to your conscience. Even voting I believe is fine now in many situations.
The generation doctrine has been changed gradually over the years and has been a great embarrasment to them.
Loads of dates have changed. As soon as one date was proved to be wrong they have changed it to something else.
Any normal org. would be very embarrased by all these changes but most times the WT gets away with it claiming it is new light from Jehovah. The rank and file are so indoctrinated that this is God's org. that they accept it unreservedly.

Has/did TBTS abandoned Russell AND Rutherford?
by Aussie Oz inplaying with myspace today and came across this, saying that the wt has abandoned both of them.
is it not more a case of they pick and choose the bits of their now archaic writings that support current thinking?
i dont know that one could say they have been rejected though.... what thinks you?.

The society will always say that since the Russell and Rutherford days they have received new light. They say that it would have been impossible to have everything explained and understood immediately. Therefor things have been revealed gradually.
They then quote the scripture that says Jesus had more things to tell his followers but they were not ready at that time. (something like that)
There is no excuse though for teaching one thing then getting rid of it and then reinstating it again, which they have done with many things.

The "move away" Fade
by jacquicortez inlooking back there were quite a few families that did the "oh we're moving" fade.
they would move to a rural area.
or a state or two away.

Surely moving away from a congregation is a bit over the top. After all you have nothing to be ashamed of. If you were baptised years ago before they changed the vows they can't didfellowship you for just disagreeing with their doctrines. Only if they catch you causing divisions in the cong, then they may go after you.

I have a question that I need your help with.
by Pallbearer inhi folks,.
i have a real serious question that i hope you will be able to help me with.. in the 4-1-1986 watchtower, pages 30-31 it talks about "approved association".
what i'm seeking your opinion about is this: if a baptized jw is deemed to not be an 'approved associate' at some point (due to his having developed a divergent view regarding one or more of the watchtower's unique teachings) does his 'not being an approved associate' mean that the watchtower society no longer considers him to be a jw?
-

Some years ago the baptismal vows were changed. You now have to vow to abide by the rules of the society. So if you don't and they consider you could cause divisions, you will be booted out. For those who got baptised years ago it is not so easy for the elders to disfellowship for someone just not agreeing with everything that is said from the platform.

For those who researched 607...
by AwSnap indid you use wt dates as well as things found from a secular perspective?
if a witness was researching the 607 dates strictly from watchtower info, would it still become clear they are wrong?
or does the wtbs *make* the dates add up...?
-
alanv
Interestingly former governing body member Ray Franz researched it when he was working on the Aid book inthe late 70s. His conclusion was that you can't successfully prove it was 607, so the society simply tried to show how secular dates for 586/7 may be wrong.

Cantleave. Is that right or just a joke that the Yearbook will be out in February. Also is not the 2009 service report coming out in an incert in Kingdom Ministry. Surely both should be out by now!

Pioneering !
by iknowall558 inquestion :.
why is 'pioneering' a 'privilege' when every jw goes out in ministry anyway.
even those who have lost privileges, or been disciplined, or been reinstated after being disfellowshipped are still expected to go out in the ministry.
-
alanv
It is all to do with serving 100%. The society know that many can't do it because of family responsabilities but those with no ties are encouraged to do all they can. I gave up an apprentaship to regular pioneer because it was put to me what is the point in building a carrer in a dying system.
Iknow. The reason you are expected to be exempary is because you are spending so much more time with the public. Just like a company rep. would have to be red hot when dealing with the public so too with a pioneer.
Everyone who steps down from a position is viewed with extreme skeptasism. They always wonder if you are on your way out.
The society are old hands at this. They know exactly what they are doing as would any worldwide business.

Bethel Layoffs
by cantleave incould those who know about these lay offs give some clear evidence of what has happened, when, to who, any experiences of people effected and to what extent?.
i want to talk to a really good friend about the situation.
he is a young guy who feels he should be doing more for the organisation, and is thinking about giving up a very good career to make a more of his career in the "truth".

Billy some really good answers there. You have to play them at their own game. It is hard for anyone not in the U S to see that the society are cutting back, especially with their apparant 4% increase in N. Americathis year.
Cantleave. I suggest you search all the sites on the internet to find what would be helpful for your friend. Some things mean nothing to them whereas other things really hit a nerve. Good luck
