What happened to their new rule of not using types and anti types unless the bible specifically does?

Update: Got my Judicial Committee cancelled
by Sanchy inoriginal thread here.
update: so, after the meeting i had with elders a few weeks ago as outlined in my original thread, they met as a body and once again called to tell me that after considering my case they still thought a judicial committee should be held against me and asked to be there "thursday at 7:30".
all of this, i remind you, because of posting coc on facebook.

Why not just disassociate yourself. Looks to me that your heart is not in it any more.

Undecided
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini have recently been disfellowshipped (after being reinstated in march).
i saw a group of jws gathered in the town car park yesterday.
they seemed startled when they recognised my car and talked amongst themselves giving one another a satisfied grin!

Well of course you could do that, but you have now certainly done the right thing. As someone who as far as they are concerned has been kicked out of the cong for whatever reason you will be shunned and ignored by everyone. They have no love for you at all, because they have been told not to have.
If I would you I would rejoice in the fact that you have finally got free from this truly awful religion

Peruvian JWs lose custody of 2-year old son
by Calebs Airplane inthe peruvian government intervened on behalf of this child whose ignorant jw parents left his life in jay hoover's hands.... http://eltiempo.pe/?p=139873.

Good to hear that the authorities intervened. Considering that two thirds of JWs leave the faith sometime in their adulthood, it was the correct thing to do. The poor child would have no say in the matter at that age.

The Real Reason why the WT predicted Armageddon in 1975
by OrphanCrow ini am of the opinion that the wt doctrine is influenced more by external factors that it is by internal ones.
one of the doctrines that has puzzled me for some time is the armageddon prediction of 1975. why would the wts make this prediction?
what was their real purpose?.

The org had a history of naming dates. During those times there was great increase for them. There wish all the time is to grow the organisation. To do that you need more people, and as a bonus more dollars to come in.

I think we are being shunned
by Tallon ini have not read all the discussions about the recent regional convention where the org is now ramping up the diabolical act of shunning.
i am not sure as to which ‘category’ of persons it now applies.. my wife and i have faded over the past couple of years.
our book-study conductor used to drop by to give us the magazines.

In some ways it is easier to fade now as elders have no excuse to call round with the latest mags etc. Everything can be accessed online by most people. So at least they cant use that as an excuse for calling on a fader.

Witnessing by Text Message
by Wild_Thing ini was wondering if anyone had ever heard of the jws texting random numbers to "send their message".
do they do this at all?
and is it a common practice?.
-
alanv
It's actually an interesting question. For years JWs picked random numbers from the phone book and wrote to them. They would scour the obituaries and send a letter of hope to them as well.
So it is quite possible they can get hold of mobile numbers, and text them a message or send them a link to JWdot org. And they can do that from the comfort of their home. Win win situation as far as they are concerned, especially on a cold winters day.

Thanks nugget for advice about looking on jwfacts and jwsurvey. They seem like really good sites so far. But I just want to talk to family and friends again. I feel so depressed, confused and alone
Certainly there is no need to feel alone Betty. There are over a million ex JWs out there, many who can help you through your current confusion. And yes those sites are great. They have helped so many. -

There are many things they know they cannot disfellowship you for, but a persons attitude may go against the advice of the governing body. For instance the person could be encouraging all the young ones in the cong to go on to further education including university, even helping them choose what and where to study. So the elders could well give a talk on the dangers of this. There are many other examples but this is just one I thought of.

Yes its a shame JWs do not follow their own advice regarding mothers day.
Awake! 2003 Sep 22 pp.23-24
"When considering whether to include a piata at a social gathering, Christians should be sensitive to the consciences of others. (1 Corinthians 10:31-33) A main concern is, not what the practice meant hundreds of years ago, but how it is viewed today in your area. Understandably, opinions may vary from one place to another. Hence, it is wise to avoid turning such matters into big issues."
