Yes they were asked the simplest of questions, but the JWs did everything they could to avoid giving a straight answer. It made no difference, it was obvious to everyone what they were doing.

I wrote to Mr. Angus Stewart regarding the "inactive" status claims made by the Watchtower at the ARC
by EdenOne inthis is the email i have just sent to mr. stewart angus, who has been conducting the questioning of the jw leaders during the australian royal commission dealing with child abuse cases among the jehovah's witnesses, concerning the claims made that a jehovah witness who wishes to walk away from the organization can simply become inactive and avoid being shunned:.
dear mr. angus stewart,
i have followed with interest the videos of the arc regarding the jehovah's witnesses in australia.

ambersun, the letters have made it very clear that witnesses are on their own doing this work. All the org do is provide the carts and literature. It is the individual witnesses job to ensure they put the carts in the right place and not cause any hazard to anybody. The whole tone of the letter is that it is up to individuals to do whatever is necessary when using the carts.

Presentation by Paul Grundy (JW Facts)
by Listener ini came across this recent down to earth presentation given by paul grundy.
it's very long but provides a good overview of the jw religion and its dark side.
it was hosted by "sydney atheists" so may not be an ideal link to send to jws.

Paul, I watched it last night, and you did brilliantly. There was not one thing you said that could be proved wrong.
Your way of speaking and writing shows no bitterness at all, which is why you are so respected among the exJW community. Please keep on with the great work you are doing.

More evidence beards are being eased in . . .
by neat blue dog inthe june 2017 watchtower tells the experience of a bible student who was homeless and unkempt, but improved his appearance after being preached to.. peter began to change.
he bathed, neatlytrimmed his beard, and put on the betterclothes that don offered him.
peter continued to maintain a clean appearance.. so here we see that with a neatly trimmed beard the watchtower's writers view him as having "a clean appearance".

Wow good find. This will certainly encourage those with beads or mustaches to keep them, and hopefully help others see that it is fine to have a well kept beard etc.

Over the past 25 years, the active membership of the organisation in Australia has grown 29 per cent from approximately 53,000 members in 1990.51 In the same period Australia’s population growth has been approximately 38 per cent.
Haha the Ozzy JWs cant even keep up with the population increase.

Was There ANYTHING Positive That You Experienced Because of Being a JW?
by minimus inwas there anything positive about your jehovah's witness experience?.

I think I stayed so long because I really enjoyed the social part of the religion. I stayed in it long after I had doubts that it was the truth. In the end I could not live a lie any longer and I walked away from it.

Bethel Library moving to Warwick, are older items 'vanishing'
by Lostandfound inin a post re dates etc from fatfreek reference was made to huge library at bethel with items dating back to pastor rs day.
like the year 1975 which has vanished from wt theology, are gb using move to let them put all old and inconvenient items into some sort of cold storage and off library shelves.
already the revelation book has gone from the orgs website, and that was quite recent relatively, we studied it 3 times at congregation book study, yet now, like type and antitype it mysteriously was never there.

I can totally understand how Watchtower would want old books thrown away from the Kingdom Hall libraries. Obviously the newer the books are the more likely they will have present truth, whereas the older ones have crazy stuff that was rejected years ago, and is a real embarrasment to them.

Well personally I think they will keep all the old literature. Nothing has changed apart from them moving.
They have already acknowledged that they have ''readjusted'' their understanding of scripture, which is why they have brought out so many new books over the last 140 years. For those at Bethel and also JW visitors it is evidence that the governing body has been providing loads of spiritual food over past decades.

In Your Opinion Do Today's Elders Recognize That The Religion Is BS?
by minimus ini always wondered that while i was in especially when i was an elder.
i recognize that some people, elders included are brain-dead.
but do you think that the average older today knows it's all nonsense?
-
alanv
Many of the elders I know are not very bright and have not accomplished much in their private lives. So when they get to become an elder it makes them feel important and they get some prominence which they would never have got without becoming an elder.

India ... what's the latest?
by no-zombie inwe haven't heard much recently about india.
whats the current situation over there?
.
-
alanv
The point is the vast majority of Indians have no idea about the JW message. A third of the world has never heard their message. This can be easily checked in the 2017 Yearbook. The org cant say the preaching has been completed in all the earth if that is so.
