If Elders and Ministerial Servants did what Michael Fallon has done, few would remain

over the years i have seen plenty of elders and ministerial servants touch other j.w's knees, thighs, give very long and intimate hugs, blah, blah, blah.

i know of other sisters who have felt really uncomfortable with such behaviour, but the brothers have just explained that they're being loving as caring christian friends, so they get away with it.

it angers me that no j.w's will speak out about historic or ongoing inappropriate touching for fear of being disfellowshipped or losing the hope of paradise..

I regard what has happened to Michael Fallen as totally ridiculous. Are we really saying that anyone in a responsible job, must be totally squeaky clean. and never done anything slightly inappropriate, even decades ago.

All of us have done things in the past, that we are not proud of, but providing it is in the past, then it should be forgiven, as the bible commands. Of course this does not include serious sin, but touching someone on the knee, is not a serious sin. The journalist concerns also thinks it is crazy that he has had to resign over this incident.

I actually listed the European countries last year, and the figures showed that overall there was no increase at all In Europe as a whole. I'm hoping this trend will spread to other continents this year.

Am I right in thinking the report will first appear on jwdotorg under the 'about us' heading?

2017 Memorial Partakers

when does the number of memorial partakers get released for 2017. i was wondering if the number will surpass 20k.

Of course the society know which countries are showing the most increase in partakers, and Im sure the branches will be told to home in on those in their countries that partake.

" i replied, "yes if it was armageddon, jehovah wouldn't have left any survivors.

To think too, that we as ex JWs used to say that as well after any human tragedy. We would choose a nice juicy story of something that happened in one small place, and then say the whole wold is like that.

Yet when it comes to Armaggeddon witnesses are perfectly ok with that mass killing.

For those of us who were part of the religion 20 or so years ago, we were taught how to answer questions on all sorts of JW subjects. Now days they seem completely incapable of doing that as individuals. Instead they are told to direct people to their website, where Watchtower has given answers that mislead, misquote and often downright lie about doctrines.

Some great answers here, guys and girls. Just need to remember them when I next get a visit. Probably worth mentioning, that it is very unlikely you could have a discussion about any of theses things if you speak to witnesses with the carts. They dont normally get involved in discussing doctrine most times in the town centre etc.

I would say certainly in the first 90 years, they claimed divine inspiration, but since then, just say they have Jehovah's holy spirit directing them. By that they actually mean it is only they, that stick to the truth of the bible which came to us under inspiration of God's holy spirit. All nonsense of course, but that is the difference these days. They have repeatedly said that they are not inspired over the last fifty years or so.

Approximately how many JW have left permanently?

i did try a search before posting this question and found nothing current.

pew research -2016 says approximately two thirds of those born into the religion in the united states alone, no longer consider themselves as members.

(sorry, still don't know how to link, but it's an easy google search.).

I think it is a really good point, that when we are thinking about ex JW numbers against current JWs, providing the average publisher figure goes up each year then there will be more JWs than ex JWs. However the great thing about ex JWs is that they have plenty of family and friends who are not JWs and who often will tell about the organisation, and that means those family and friends will steer well clear of the organisation. So really as every day passes, more and more people throughout the world will realize this is a cult to avoid at all costs.
