  What does 'accurate knowledge' have to do with worship and praise?

  not that the jdubs have the 'accurate knowledge' anyway.

  but it seems to me that if i was the creator i would appreciate all who showed appreciation in song and word, no matter the level of accuracy.

  just what the hell does that have to do with praising god when you think of it?.

  Praise and Worship = INTIMATE, PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE (a relationship!)

  Accurate Knowledge = Intellectual Knowledge, from reading "about" someone or something. (Ask the Pharisees about this one. They had lots of it.)

  Example: A sports fan has a favorite baseball player. He reads all kinds of facts about this person. Knows all his statistics. Collects his memorabilia. Etc....

  This same baseball player has a son he adopted. The kid hangs out with him, eats dinner with him, talks directly to him every day.

  Which of the two REALLY knows the baseball player? The guy who has a bunch of books about him, or the kid who is with him every day and is a member of his family?

  How do you know Jesus or Jehovah? Do you talk to them every day?

  It's good to know the facts straight from the Bible, but it doesn't help at all if you don't have the relationship!

  What have you done for yourself lately?

  after reading greendawn's post, it made me realize that i do more for other people than i do for myself.

  i put off buying things for myself and gave up doing certain things when my husband became ill... but, the one thing that i did do for myself and family was get all of us a computer.

  having a computer gives me time to relax and roam around on the net doing random stuff.

  When I feel sorry for myself, because I think I do so much for everyone else and they don't appreciate any of it (waaah...sob) , I'll buy myself a pint of Ben 'N Jerry's Phish Food ice cream and eat the whole thing all by myself!

  (Thankfully that doesn't happen very often, or I would have to go buy a size larger in jeans every so often. That stuff is loaded with fat and calories!)

  I WENT TO CHURCH THIS MORNING....

  after the distastful and depression memorial at the kingdom hall last wednesday night, i guess i just felt the need to go somewhere else this morning for easter so i drove around.......i was going to go to the presbyterian church but the service wasn't untill 11:00am....ditto for the lutheran and united churches too, so i ended up going to the catholic church (of all places!

  ) because the service started at 9:30am.

  never been to a catholic service before, (except for one wedding and one funeral years ago).

  We went to church this morning. A non-denominational church. Christ Community Church. Welcomes anyone from any denominational background. Preaches straight from the Bible. Everyone is welcome to take communion, they don't pass around a basket for money (although I don't see anything wrong with that, because they give an accounting of where the money goes), they have donation boxes here and there around the church, if you feel led to contribute, no membership or pressure to "join" anything, but many areas of interest open to anyone who would like to participate.....NO PRESSURE!! I love it! You don't have to "perform". Dress in blue jeans or a suit, whichever. Sincere worship, hearing the word of God straight from the Bible, and the freedom to worship how ever you feel comfortable. It doesn't get any better than that. For the first time in my life, I enjoy going to church and look forward to it. I guess you just have to keep searching until you find the right one for you. Maybe read Toxic Faith first, so you can readily identify harmful practices.

  Nothing wrong with Charismatic or Pentecostal Churches, per se, but I would steer away from them at first. They are a lot more radical than you are probably used to. Might be frightening to you. Baptists are pretty laid back. I came from a Catholic background, my husband from Assembly of God, two different ends of the spectrum! Baptist seemed to meet in the middle. Just keep visiting. You'll find the one that is right for you!

  I welcome the JW lurkers / spies!

  I am not a JW, nor have I ever been one. But if any of you out there could give me straight answers to my sincere questions, even if it is "I don't know", I would appreciate it. Not one has done that. They merely try to change the subject, or give me a bunch of man-written observations and opinions about what the BIble says.

  If any of you are sincere, and up to the challenge---active JWs-----drop me a line. I am especially interested in asking about the blood issue. PM me, if you will commit to following through with my questions. Don't bother if you are only going to Bible jump and ignore my questions.

  Your prayers and thoughts for Randy!

  i realize that randy watters is not the type of person to want to worry others, especially when it come to his own health.

  and i also realize that randy might want to kick me in the backsides for posting this little message.

  thats ok, i'll even buy him a new set of boots to kick me with, but for right now if we could take a few moments to send our prayers, thoughts, and perhaps ecards for randy's swift recovery, then i know that randy would certainly appreciate it .dear friends of randy, due to some complications from a pain medication randy was using during an attack of his crohn's disease last week, he became seriously dehydrated and was hospitalized this past thursday, april 13th.

  i know this probably sounds like a ridiculous question, but so many things about what jws believe boggles my mind.....so here it is:.

  Interesting.......

  Especially the rare steak thing....it's not blood, but "juice".

  Couldn't you just say, "Hey, I'm not getting a blood transfusion! I'm just getting a little "juiced up"! ?

  I thought that was really odd too. My buddy tells me she would die before having a blood transfusion. Yet, when I asked this farm girl who was going to butcher her beef cows "kosher-style", she looked at me like I lost my mind. Isn't eating meat that has not been properly bled, EATING BLOOD? Her response?: "No, no, no....You just don't understand. Much of the blood drains off, even in today's butchering practices, and the rest "cooks" away."

  My response?: "Don't the Orthodox Jews still practice the laws of Leviticus? They meticulously bleed the meat? Soak it, even, to make sure all of the blood is out as best they can? Why do they STILL do that, if today's butchering practices are good enough? ....By the way, do you happen to know how Orthodox Jews feel about blood transfusions?"

  No response.

  Such is the saga of my unanswered questions. They told me they have all the answers. They told me they would always be honest. They told me they would always point me to the Bible. No "man-written" books.

  Thus far, I have a library full of pamphlets and books written by men. More questions as a result. And I had to ASK several times, before they would get me a Bible (NWT), which costs me $5.

  See why I called myself "Whyizit"????

  The angel eggs sound good. I love avacados, so maybe I'll try that.

  Are you yanking my chain?!!!

  So, if deviled eggs were never named that, say they were called "Baby-Poop eggs"----they could have ate them?

  What other things are they not allowed, because of the title?

  For instance: Cats were regarded as gods in Egypt, ....can they have cats?

  (For the record, when I eat a deviled egg, I am not treating that egg in an idolotrous fashion. I'm not worshipping the devil. I'm eating a egg with filling. That is it. If you look upon something as a god, like the Egyptians did with cats, then you have made an idol of that thing....whatever it is. Are eggs bad? Are cats bad? Or is it how you view objects from your heart that makes them bad? The object is what it is. *Egg---an interesting, edible object that God created, so that chickens could reproduce.)
