  Are Jehovah's Witnesses Christian?

  like mormons, jehovah's witnesses believe that christianity died with the last of the apostles.

  they believe christianity was not resurrected until their founder, charles taze russell, began organizing the watchtower society in the 1870s.

  in their view the cross is a pagan symbol adopted by an apostate church and salvation is impossible apart from the watchtower.

  Thank you for posting this!

  I was asked to write up a basic outline of the differences between the regular run-of-the-mill Christian and the JWs. This sums it up very nicely.

  I hope you don't mind if I borrow your thoughts! Lots of Christians do not know that there are that many differences, because it is carefully hidden when you first meet with the JWs at your door.

  They see the differences as minor. JWs convince them that they are Christians too. What they do not do, is tell you straight-up front exactly what they believe, what will be expected of you, and many other tid-bits that they have to hide. Otherwise no one would ever have the lack of good sense to join. They have to scare you in to it. Pride and fear seem to be the motivation they use.

  Thanks for writing this. It is a terrific summary for my friends who know little about the WTS and what it teaches.

  PETA Protest Backfires

  a human inside an injured-chicken costume, hobbling in protest on the sidewalk wednesday in front of a kentucky fried chicken restaurant, didnt achieve the desired effect, according to many who dined there.. brad steig called wednesdays protest in grand junction by the people for the ethical treatment of animals good advertising for kfc.. the protest consisted of four adults and one child holding signs in front of the restaurant, handing out fliers and dvds and urging people to not eat at kfc until the restaurant buys chickens from humane vendors.. steig, a manager for halliburton, said he heard about the peta protest on the radio and decided right then to eat at kfc on wednesday, the day of the protest.. not only that, but he bought seven of the biggest buckets of chicken and all the side dishes and used four trips to load them into his halliburton pickup to treat his co-workers.

  i don't know if there's an "ultimate" right-wingers' fantasy, but collecting 7 buckets of fried chicken in a halliburton pick-up in front of a peta protester must come pretty close.

  I live in a rural area where there are lots of farmers who raise livestock and fowl in large quantities. I've never witnessed any of them torturing their animals. I'm not doubting that these things happen, but I don't believe it is the "norm".

  However, I have seen many people starve thier pets half to death, and not one thing can be done about it. Where is PETA when these things happen?

  What are you doing Memorial Day weekend?

  hopefully it will be a beautiful weekend.

  we always get together with our entire family (kids and grandkids) for an all day picnic and fun and then watch the small town parades.

  and then this weekend we will be playing "catch-up" with outdoor projects on the house that we couldn't get to because of the rain.

  PETA should come to my house and hold a protest out by my hen house! Those witchy creatures will often times literally peck each other to death! They have many acres to roam freely and yet, they will torture each other ruthlessly. The rooster rapes the hens every time they walk by him. I've tried to reason with him, but he just doesn't care. They are also not above eating their own eggs! (EEK!)

  Those fuzzy little fur-bearing racoons invade once in awhile and pull the little fuzzy chicks heads right off through the wire fencing. Neighbors have decided to curb the destruction they cause by trapping and shooting them. Since there is not a market for the fur, thanks to PETA, their carcasses get thrown in the garbage. There wouldn't be an over-population of them, if they could be humanely hunted once in awhile, with their pelts actually making it worth the hunter's while. Guess it is better for them to reach near starvation, then be trapped and shot, only to be thrown in the trash. PETA people need to get a dose of reality. These are not cute little masked creatures, that give a rat's butt about others. They would tear your little kitty's head off and eat it right in front of you! They breed like rats and if there isn't a market for their pelts, they will start invading and destroying property. Killing animals and crops.

  But they are sooo cute in the cartoons and at the zoo!

  Something similar happened to my friend's brother. His wife only managed to rip out one (lefty) by the roots, however. A very good testimony to staying away from drugs. (That was what started the whole thing.)

  Seems he "took" something that was her's and while he was in the drug-induced stupor, she went crazy from withdrawls, and tried to neuter him. THAT woke him up!!!

  Unfortunately, two of their children witnessed this. What a horrible thing to do in front of your children. These are self-proclaimed, non-practicing Catholics, who do not attend church or adhere to any of the Catholic beliefs, except the one about birth control. They just keep popping the kids out. Can't take the pill or get fixed, because it's against their "religion". They violate the ten commandments regularly. But, by golly, they are not using birth control! This IS NOT a slam against Catholics, by the way! This is a prime example of someone claiming to be something they are not. They are no more Catholic, than I am a millionaire. Brings to mind that saying, "Just because you are standing in a garage, doesn't mean you are a car. The same goes for standing in a church building. It doesn't mean you are a Christian.)

  Anyway, this fine fellow's sister is a friend of mine. On her birthday, I sent her a card that had a squirrel holding a walnut in his left paw. Inside the card it said: "Chucky the squirrel says he will give his left nut, if you will just have a happy birthday!" It seemed to fit the scenario, and my friend appreciated the irony, with a good sense of humor. Make lemonade of the lemons! I sure hope she didn't show that card to her brother!

  Studying with JWs

  i have just started studying with jws, (on a regular basis) about a month ago, and i really enjoy it.

  - i am wondering what will happen in the next couple of months, knowing i will continue going to the kingdom hall and studying.

  will i go door to door sometime?

  Welcome to the forum!

  I am not a JW, but I did study with them for awhile. Did you get answers to your questions? What questions did you ask? I would sure love to compare notes with you!

  I never really recieved answers. Mostly they would change the subject on me and ignore my questions. I could give you exaples, if you would like. Perhaps you could get better answers and fill me in.

  Here is one that I had some trouble with, but no one ever helped me. They told me that in Rev., the great crowd who will never be going to heaven. I asked if they could show me a Scripture that shows that heaven is LIMITED to 144,000, and no one else. I also asked where Rev. 19, verse 1, specifically says that the great crowd is. Never got any answers.

  Maybe you could explain it to me? PM me, if you know the answers.
