LongHairGal, you said something I was actually going to say, but didn't. They snuck it in. No big announcement. I figured out why. It's because if they made an announcement, there would be a big stink. People will remember stink. If people fuss over a published announcement, and it gets out of control like 1975, then they will have to devote more PRINTED words to calm them down in their new explanation. More printed words means more ways to catch them. To get the job done, quietly, with as few words and articles as possible, is their goal. This is done so that the damage is minimum. It makes me so angry – not for myself but for my friends and family who believe.

The JWs still blind to the implications of the 1995 generation change
by greendawn inin 1995 the wts as time finally caught up with them, they had to yield to the inevitable and admit that its hitherto interpretation of the so called 1914 last generation was erroneous.
to all intents and purposes the end was indefinitely posrponed it could be centuries away according to the new explanation.
yet the r&f do not seem to realise these implications and are apparently suffering from collective blindness they still believe the end is as near as it was before 1995, just round the corner.

It's kind of sad that, if people don't wake up now, the next generation will be as lost as this one was. The Watchtower library doesn't go back into the 40's, it only goes as far back as the 50's. You really think somewhere at the HQ there aren't copies of the literature we had back in the late 1800's? They don't provide it on purpose – they are slowly phasing it out. In another 60 years, when are are all dead or close to being dead, the new Watchtower Library 2066 won't contain the old version of the “generation”, the pre-1995 version. It will only contain the boundless one – the one that is "some future generation". And then, to those that inquire, they can say, "check the records, we've always claimed that 'this generation' has been an unspecific one'" -- how sad. "Those who can not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" -- George Santayana. No one learns in the Witnesses (esp. the GB); they're too high above reality in their "Watchtower" to see the massacre taking place within their city walls. Until those old, bloated GB fools who are obsessed with micro-managing people's lives die out and are replaced with younger (hopefully different) members, nothing will change. I get the feeling the pompous old schmucks in the GB would rather run the JWs into the ground before they loosen the leash. More than likely the young men who inherit the Kingdom of God as built by Russell and revised by Rutherford will also be handed "Holy Instructions from Jehovah" that will contain information (written of course by the GB members) on exactly how to pilot the ship once they're dead. I think EVERYONE knows about the change in the understanding of "this generation"; deep down everyone knows. Just like they all know we made false predictions. And those that act as though they don't (the Apologetics) are simply buying into the lie with unmatched aggression with a hope that they can figuratively beat the so-called lies out of existence. People are locked in now, as they always have been, and most will die in deception not simply because they won't look – but because sometimes they can't. If my mom were to open her eyes after all she has said and done for the Witnesses... the embarrassment and the mental collapse would send her straight to the loony-bin. Perhaps denial is the evolution of a fail safe – the last resort to salvage a severely damaged mindset. This, of course, is my humble opinion – I know as much as those who are blinded.

Is the UN a government?
by AuldSoul inthe contention of the wts that the un is a government is complete hogwash.
i don't know why it took so long for me to realize this most basic flaw in their defense strategy.. governing requires continuous sovereign authority over, to control the making and administration of policy within, to exercise a determining influence over, to have decisive influence.. the un is an association of nations.
like nato (which is also not a government).

Oh, and so I don't look even worse... when I said "By saying "the UN isn't a government" is a pathetic attempt to find a legal loophole. Too bad they already stuck the knife in their own back." I meant that it's pathetic by the WATCHTOWER saying the UN isn't a government... not by YOU (AuldSoul) saying it is pathetic... Since I misunderstood I didn't want you to think I was insulting you! Doh!

The funny thing is that it doesn't really matter if it's a "government" or not. The definition doesn't matter at this point because the Watchtower has spoken so ill of the UN that now, no matter WHAT it really is, any association with it is quite condeming. Take this bit of info from the Revelation book... I'm not sure if this has been changed with the new book: Page 246-251 "Acending out of the Abyss" Paragraph 9: "The UN is actually a blasphemous counterfeit of God’s Messianic Kingdom by his Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ—to whose princely rule there will be no end." -- By saying "the UN isn't a government" is a pathetic attempt to find a legal loophole. Too bad they already stuck the knife in their own back.

The WTS fornicating with CESNUR
by greendawn inthe wts is a member of cesnur an organisation that seeks to promote new religions and to oppose anti cult actions by governments on the grounds that these are attacks on personal and religious freedom.
surprise surprise the other members of this organisation make up a strange brood: mormons, scientologists, new agers, ramtha's school of ancient wisdom, etc.
clearly the wts that criticises mainstream christianity so much chooses to join forces with such dubious religions in cesnur.

I'm not expert on law here, but I think we are overlooking the obvious. As a young man, after reading the International Bill of Human Rights, I find that the Jehovah's Witnesses do in fact break at least a few of the rules set forth. Namely Article 12, which states: "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks." -- I'm sure everyone can think of how the Witnesses not only invade privacy but also how they viciously label people as apostates and attack their honor and reputation. How is this not a violation? There are other articles like Article 18 which is about the undisturbed freedom of opinion and the right to change religions, or what about Article 19 that says you can use any media available to distribute your own ideas and opinions? Or what about Article 16 that says everyone, with no limitation due to religion, has the right to marry and found a family? Doesn't the Watchtower break that by teaching us we can only marry people within the Organization? Isn't that a "limitation due to religion"?

Fatal error, an error has been encountered and Watchtower needs to close
by Morocco inthis may not be as amusing to the members here as it is to me, but i would like to say that irony is my favorite thing.
i was doing some searches in the watchtower library cd 05 and it was crunching the numbers on the loads of bull crap it found.
all was going well until i decided to do a search for "witchcraft"... when the program crashed, gave me fatal error, and shut down.

I thought for a moment this was a failsafe, to keep the rank and file Watchtower fodder away from the juicy bits of sinful information. No, it was a for real crash. What is there to crash? It's not like we are talking about a super complicated piece of software here – we aren't using the Library software to smash atoms. I just found it amusing that such a simple piece of software would crash on a term like that. I wonder if the witness Elders who come to my door (because I'm "inactive") on Saturday morning attempting to "reactive" me would have fatal errors and die if I just spouted out words like witchcraft and magic. Worth a try, no?

What's The Dumbest JW Belief?
by minimus ini have to think believing in the blood doctrine has to be the dumbest, especially because accepting the watchtower view can kill you.
