  Religion - adventure or betrayal?

  religions do a lot of positive things in helping a lot of people!.

  mainly this is due to ones who believe being very sincerely devoted and hard working individuals!.

  has your experience of religion been mainly a feeling of adventure or betrayal and why?.

  My experience with the witnesses is one of sadness and betrayal. However, being the recipient of the kindness of various religious organizations following hurricane Katrina in the form of food, health care and volunteers repairing my 96 year old father-in-laws house I know there are some wonderful people in those religious organizations...however the Jehovah's Witnesses religion of which I was a member for 26 plus years was not among them!   In reality there's little a president can do about the economy other than set the mood. The Federal Reserve and other factors are more important than what a president does (in terms of the economy).

  Agreed Gopher, I just get sick of the BULL he puts forth while trying to make ends meet on my social security check and kicking myself for buying into the JW bull that there was no need to save for the future

  prayer was difficult. I went for long periods without praying and feeling guilty about it. I just couldn't pray. I tried to make myself do it, but couldn't. Much later I realized it was because I just plain didn't believe in god. But it took a long time for me to admit that to myself.

  easter is coming soon and i am so excited!

  i have not celebrated easter in over 17 years.

  what a relief to be able to enjoy the worship of jesus and to be so grateful and thankful for his sacrafice.

  I will be celebrating Easter with and for my two great grandchildren, not as a religious holiday but a good old pagan egg dying and hiding/hunting easter egg type holiday....absolutely nothing to do with the bible what so ever.

  some women i have known speak of their desire to have the person they marry to also be their best friend.......other's relate that they already.

  have a best friend in the form of a longtime girlfriend, and would rather have their husband be their "husband".

  Yes I do,

  I'm blessed in the fact that not only is my husband of 37 years my best friend he is the one person I know beyond a doubt that will always be there for me when the chips are down!

  Don't get me wrong we don't have a perfect relationship (I don't believe anyone does) but I can't imagine my life without him, and I'm told he feels the same way

  I also have a female best friend, I think I'm one lucky old gal.
