But there is NO contradiction between Paul and James. Contradiction is only on surface, but when you undestand what Pauls is talking about, then you understand what James is talking about. They are not talking about the same topics. Paul teaches how christian is being made righteous, James talks about "what and how to do next". That's the whole point... that WHEN you became "born from above" then is question... what next. Coz you don't die, you have to live your new life and the Kingdom of Heaven starsts heere on earth. And James is just talking about this practical part... Christianity is very transcendental and at the same time very practical religion. If you remove one or other part you get legalism or gnosticism.

In acts 15 ALLWAYS everybody misses 21 For Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath." See here is REASON why such orders were given at the council of Jerusalem. And this is just the same reason, avoid these things as it can harm jew christians and jews, they will judge you for what is not wrong, and they will sin because you make them sin in their hearts. Actually we do this every day, if we are polite we do not abuse others with our freedom, because we are free, we restrict ourselves. That is what council of Jerusalem and later St. Paul teaches - because you are free, you should restrict yourself for sake of those who are not!

may be this can help (not only witnessing to witnesses)
by Shazard insometimes when some jw tries to "prove" you something from scripture, it is usefull to observe the question from oposite direction.
for example, if jw tries to prove that word "proskuneo" towards jesus christ means only "homage" then ask, how it should be written if author of gospel would like to show somebody worshiping jesus christ (no matter what reason).
if jw tries to prove that world was not created in 7 astronomical days, but in 7 "periods" each longing millions of years, then ask how it should be written in bible in case (for some mistical reason) if author of genesis would like to say that the world was created in 7 astronomical days, wat words or constructs then he should use!

thing is that JW does not recognise context atall... they evend does not know what is context of whole Bible

Sometimes when some JW tries to "prove" you something from scripture, it is usefull to observe the question from oposite direction. And so on. The magic is that JW one of the techniques (you ofcourse know) is to put other meaning of some words and then try to change the context. But this error becomes visible from "opposite" point of view. If they say that Holy Spirit is only personification of Gods force, then ask how meny (allmost all) sentences where this "personification" acts, should be changed in some "imaginary" world, to make Holy Spirit real person... how then the message would change. And honest observer (which JW are not) would notcie that in whole these examples it should be just like it is allready in bible.

Internet prophesy ???
by wombat ini recall a wt publication about 40 years ago saying that a biblical prohesy of "a threat from the deep" or some such thing - possibly revelations - referred to nuclear missiles from submarines.
i was amazed at such foresight.. has the wts ever found anything in biblical prophesy that refers to computers or the internet ?.
sorry, i've been out of the loop for a long time but i enjoy reading of their funniness.

Thanks. I am "expert" in JW doctrines from "otuside" that's why was hoping that tehre is something inside I can use to reach. But I guess you all are right... thinkg what I can do is just to be myself and to be old brother who loves his brother. I guess the cure will be love! The rest is God's Holy Spirit whos responsibility is to guide and lead... so I believe Jesus when he promises that the HGhost will teach. --- I was protected coz I didn't let myself into doubt about Jesus Divinity, it mostly saved me from falling into doubts about everything I believed. My brother never was active believer, and I just didn't notcied that he is under influence (we don't live togeather), so when I realised he is in cult, first thing I had to do is to fix my own relationship with God... and it was too late for me (as I was untrained christian). --- So there is no silver bullet :( Hoped there is! Thanks... I was reading your site long time ago allready, and I am so glad that if not my brother then somebodies brothers and sisters still get out of that organization. Actually you all are my hope (and prove) that God can reach my brother. --- Anyway than you in name of Jesus Christ to all of you for what you are doing.

Can someone explain the whole Armageddon/judgement thing to me??
by Super_Becka ini've been doing a lot of research lately about jws and their beliefs for various reasons, not the least of which is curiosity (don't worry, i'm not converting - i'm curious, not insane!!
), and i've come across a few things that don't make much sense to me.
well, most of these things don't make sense to me, but some stand out more than others.. so, in my wanderings, i've seen lots about whether or not jws believe that they're the only ones who get to survive "armageddon" and live in "paradise earth" and such, and the general answer tends to be, "well, others will get the chance to be resurrected at "armageddon", too, if they're worthy", or something like that.

Well the thing is that those who put their fate and hope on Jesus Christ will pass the judgement (it's bad part) and allready will get the reward - everlasting life, as Jesus allready payed ALL sins. But about Armageddon I heared nice thing which I believe is true. As Revelation is very very very symbolic book full of symbols and alegories (I event don't know how JW manage to use the book to explain other clear passages) then the "Armageddon" refers to the whole fights in Megida... But the all the historical fights there was specific that in the battles wins the party which is UP HILL. Armageddon battles allways were settled before the actual fight. As the ones which are bellow lose. So Revelation Armageddon just reveals that there will be fight, but the result is allready known - winner will be Upper Jerusalem :) That's all this "armageddon" stuff!

Is there a contradiction with the wedding in Cana thing?
by cheeseman ini've often read jesus couldn't have been in the wilderness and at this wedding at the same time, so what's going on here?.
is there a case for a real contradiction?.
or is it really just misunderstanding the scriptures?.

Thing is that John's Gospel is not strongly "historical" gospel. So order of events in John are ordered not historically but "spiritually". Or may be I don't understand what condtradiction you refer to!

Hi. I am newbie here and I am not ex-JW. Christ managed to protect me, but my brother fell into this cult. Now coz of this I am confessional Lutheran. BUT... can YOU help me with some bible passages, theological questions which are just stumper for JW as they are not trained to answer them. I know all the standart (and not only) passages, but wanted to get from ex-JW what are the themes JW just unable to answer and not trained to speak about!
