What Questions Should I Ask?
by Serene ini am gearing up to have "the big discussion" with my boyfriend about his witness beliefs... and i was wondering what are some good questions to ask him?
at this point, im not bent on "proving him wrong" as i think that is a bad attitude to take into a discussion of this nature, but i do plan on asking him to make sense of some of the more questionable practices of the jws... (dubs?
the questions i have so far are .

And be carefull. He probably will ask you to study each topic step by step using WT technique. If you subscribe for "bible study", then ask if you can invite some pastor from church to have 2 opinions to compare? Good starting point questions/talk is in this link http://www.freeminds.org/psych/openmind.htm Do not get deep into doctrinal ping-pong. Do not talk about fields you do not know about, ask your friend to let to reasearch the topic by yourself. He probably will warn you to avoid "apostate" sites, but you can respond him, that God is stronger then Devil, so you rely on God and his guidance personally in your research. And actually DO research. Do not talk about meny topics at once. Better to talk about one topic for 15 minutes, and then stop, then loose 5 hours with no real results. Choose your topics carefully, do not agree to discuss topics you are not prepared to talk. It is psihological trick, that human mind accepts new infurmation as truth by default, and every next info about the topic is compared to this first "stamp". So do not let JW friend to create the stamp into your mind. Do your research by yourself alone using i-net or just reading Bible. I guess you can find different topical references of Bible verses/chapters/books in interenet!

Dogma of eternal punishment....(before I was a Dub)
by upside/down inthe dogma of eternal punishment and hell is one of the things that led me to question my faith.
we live in a temporal world/universe bound by time.
either (as the faithful believe) the world will be made new after the final judgment, or the universe and humanity will cease to exist (entropy and all that).

upside... you didn't considered the thing that sin is against ehternal God, so the punishment is ethernal. and God is not active agent for "punishing" the wicked, but themselves. soul is created as ethernal substance, so after phisical death soul keeps existing, differece is the state in which soul continues to exist... state of God's presence is paradise, state of being away from God is hell... And the fire burning you is you yourself. Aknowledghing that you were wrong, seeing yourself as you are in reality, understanding that your state is unchangable... pretty hellish state!

That would be very nice move from side of real true God if WT would "celebrate" 2014 with empty or close to it Kingdom Halls... and not because of Armageddon but because of truth :)

Yes, sabath is done away in the form it was told to Israel. Today it the commandement is fullfilled with Jesus Christ. If you ar in Christ you are keeping sabath allready. If you are on your own and you are Jew, you have to keep sabath. If you are not Jew, you are not required to keep sabath.

Wow that UN scandal really DOES work wonders
by osmosis ini'm totally amazed.
i gave that un report to my (hardcore jw to the extreme max, but in a nice way) aunt, and she didn't speak of it for several days.
when she said nothing, i knew i'd gotten somewhere.. today she finally spoke up.

JW's and Secular work?
by Honesty inwhy do they 'separate' their secular work from 'theocratic' activites?.
when i was in the watchtower lie, i always wondered why the dubs make such a distinction in their daily activities.
after i escaped and started making friends with worldlings who happened to be christians i learned that they make no distinctions between what they do as a profession and their witnessing about jesus to other people.

I can't say for sure who was original author, but I loved words about witnessing. "Real Christian allways witnesses about Jesus and Gospel... if needed even with words"

Meek inheriting the earth?
by dozy inthis question is really aimed at those who have exited jws but still retain a belief in the bible.
what did jesus mean here (mt 5:5)?
when i ask "christians" this question , they usually have no idea.
