Ultraviolet. I couldn't believe this was actually in a movie theater. I couldn't help but explode in laughter as Ieft the theater...and the movie wasn't funny.

by greendawn inwe often talk about the best films that we have seen but what about the opposite, what were some films that really disappointed you either at the cinema or at home watching them from a dvd (or vhs though that got outdated now)?

Correct.
They used their theology to translate the scriptures rather than letting the scriptures dictate their theology.

The Trinity... is it a false teaching as the WTBTS claims?
by Honesty inin the old testament god revealed himself to his chosen people, the israelites as i am:.
ex 3:14-15 - god replied to moses, i am who i am.
this is what you are to say to the israelites: i am .

THere was recently another posting with this line of reasoning...
I think you're trying to put Almighty God into finite terms, which I think is an impossibility. The closest I can come is you took a lit candle flame from a fire. It is separate, but essentially still a part of the fire, is it not? This is how I think of God and it is how the early Christians (i.e. Justin Martyr) viewed the Trinity as well.
If the pharisees were mistaken in their analogy, wouldn't Christ have told them they were mistaken?
Also regarding Savior, are you suggesting that Jesus didn't have a pre-existence before his human birth? To say he was not the savior before his birth is to imply that he wasn't in existence.
Do you believe that Christ is eternal? or created? Scripture states, he was before all things and created all things. If he was an object of creation, then this statement would be false. He can't be a thing if he was before all things. What is the only object we know that is above being a thing in terms that we understand. That being, that concept that essence is what we know as God who made himself manifest in 3 different ways. As Father, as Son and as Holy Spirit, separate but co-existent and co-equal.

That's my understanding as well. There are no capital or lower case letters in Greek.

What MUST Jw's believe that they don't KNOW they believe?
by AlmostAtheist ini'm looking for beliefs of jw's that have the consequence of also requiring some other belief that they may not like or be able to explain.. for instance, you probably believe that there are an infinite number of numbers, since you can always add 1 to any number and make a new one.. what you may not think about as a consequence of that belief is that you can also start with 2, add 2, and create an infinite series of even numbers.
the set of even numbers is infinite, and the set of whole numbers (which would fully encompass the even numbers) is also infinite.
so which set is bigger?

I sure can't Honesty! It seems plain and clear to me unless I try to go out of my way to put an unlikely possibility of meaning into the mouths of people 2,000 yrs ago.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES WANT IT BOTH WAYS
by Perry inwhen individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.
when people leave another christian religion it is evidence that the religion is morally corrupt and unable or unwilling to provide spiritually for their members.
when a christian from another denomination lies, he is acting according to his own disposition being from the father of the lie.

Not used to silence from a JW
by osmosis in.
i found an apparently unbiased report on the un scandal, printed it and gave it to my jw aunt.. since then she has not mentioned it.
odd, if she thinks she's right about something she never hesitates to tell me in detail.. maybe i scored a point.. ?

Star, i see you've got an explanation for everything! haha. It's like you were there!
Sorry, just being sarcastic.
Riddle me this..riddle me that..
what about this one?
Heb 1:8
ut unto the Son [he saith], Thy throne, O God, [is] for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness [is] the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Is the Father calling the Son God here?
And of course John 1:1 The Word was God, the word was with God and God was the word..then the word became flesh. -

by saddler ini've fallen in love with a jehovah's witness and i know she feels the same way about me but the problem is that im a methodist and cant find it in me to give up my faith and become a jehovah's witness as i would not expect her to give up her faith and it is driving us both crazy.

I wish I had some good advice to offer. Unfortunately, I think it's just self-serving. I happen to believe that love is the most powerful thing in the world. And, it is perfected through suffering. Imagine if Christ said, dying for you would be too painful so, I think I'll pass. I guess I'm trying to apply the same principle to the JW I'm in love with but haven't had a relationship with in 3 months.. However, if you love someone who is abusive in anyway, emotionally, physically or whatnot...then you're not loving yourself either.
