i've been studying with the jw's for a few months and i've attended a few meetings but things are feeling somewhat strange...i don't quite get the jist of things but i feel that i'm learning more of what the watchtower teachers and less of what the bible actually says.. i never open my bible.. i'm always reading the watchtower pamphlets.
i really like the people i've met in the congregation and the guy thats been doing the studies with me has been an awesome friend.. .
but i'm just having some issues.. i mean.. they translated their own bible to suit their own doctrines it seems.

good idea. The 'end of this sytem' has been coming for more than a century for the j-dubs. Don't worry, it'll wait a bit longer while you try and figure things out.

His reply to you is expected, yet I'm sorry to hear that he said such a hurtful thing to you.
By his actions, he is not a father figure to you. A father is there to love you and accept you for who you are. Yes, a father may try to guide you towards his viewpoints and lifestyle, but
if he truly cares about you, he would accept you as you are, even if you reject his religious belief system.

Sometimes before i got more into the bible study, i'd tell him for opinions not based on Jehovah and he wouldn't have a problem with that.
Then he wouldn't have a problem if you choose to discontinue your wt publication study.
If he does have a problem, then you know his true intentions.
I'm glad you've found a father figure in your life. Everyone needs one, but I think in the case of guys, it's even more important to have a father figure.

Your study conductor is a lazy, drunk with a loud voice that likes to argue.
He doesn't fit the profile of someone I would want to learn from.
well folks, got back from my trip to see russell's grave site.
it was quite a interesting experience and sobering to see the pyramid right by his tombstone.
i'm kind of tired and will be hitting the sack soon but i wanted to post a few pictures.
I look forward to seeing it myself. I don't have a trip planned at this time, but I'm hoping to go by the end of this year or early next year.

well it looks like a southern ontario elder just took his own life.
i cant go into details as we live in a very small world in "the truth" and even the smallest amount of detail on this one could quickly connect this to me, so for now its on the d-low.. it is a relative of a very close friend and he is godsmacked by it.
he said to me, " we sure seem to be seeing more of this lately arent we?
Suicide is my biggest worry when it comes to the j-dubs. I know that many here have admitted to suicidal thoughts when they realized the j-dubs are a mind control cult.
I can only imagine how many j-dubs may committ suicide if this organization were to ever fall.
the greeter was a woman i once called friend and who (unfortunately now) was baptized after studying with me for a year.
when i walked in i was the only one coming through the door so it's not like she didn't see me, she turned away and ignored me...not wanting to lower myself to her level i simply got a shopping cart and went about my shopping, my first instinct was to report her to management for dereliction of duty but i thought better of that because my doing so would show her it upset me.
i really owe her a debt of gratitude because it was at her baptismal talk that my first strong doubt that it was the truth finally penetrated my foggy brain, as i sat and repeated the baptismal questions to myself at the assembly when she was being baptized i realized they were not the same ones i answered in 1974, that started me on my journey out of the org.
On a postiive note:
At least you are the consumer in this situation, while your 'friend' has to work in the lucrative postion of 'walmart greeter'.
