Marrying a "worldly" man...
by veronica_mars init's funny, cause i never thought i would do this.. not that i am engaged, or even dating anyone for that matter... but i *could*.. it's such a foreign concept to me... dating someone who isn't a witness.
who doesn't understand all this.. i don't know why, but it does kinda scare me.
i think that there are certain jw teachings that i will carry with me for a long time... and what if he doesn't get it?!.

I hate being alone, but I know one day once I get my act together I to will find the right person for me.
Until you enjoy being alone and developing a true love for yourself, then you will never be happy. It is my belief that everyone should live on their own, by themselves, so that they are given ample time and opportunity to get to know themselves and love themselves.
I was always a happy person until I married. My wife is very negative and depressing(she hid her depression from me during our courtship) In that type of situation, I do not make her happy, but instead she makes me sad.
The same will happen to you. You will find someone who you think will make you happy, but because you do not love yourself and enjoy yourself, you will make the other person miserable.

Grandkids will change you a bit.
What did you like better, children, or grandchildren? Or are they all great to have?

What is the NEW BUZZ in the Org?
by Save My Soul inthere is a new wt arrangement, the 1935 change, the 30 minute public talk among other things.
some have even said they would stop talking doom and gloom, can someone please confirm this?.
what is the perception of these things among those active in the org?

They actively roll their eyes at much of what they read and hear from the Watchtower.
I do agree with you on this, but not in the case of my brother or my mom.
They are both fanatics. Despite what my bro has stated, he is still a hard core believer and is expecting the big A to happen at any moment. I can only imagine the internal conflict that must run through his mind as he plans for retirement while expecting jehovah's wrath to peek it's ugly head around the corner.
ah, the joys of being a j-dub!

I hear people in thier 30s and 40s saying openly that the "end" might not come in their lifetime.
My brother is in his 20s and he has openly stated that he can see himself being 70 or 80 when the 'end' arrives.
He's also conceded that if the 'new system' isn't here by the time he's 30, then he will start saving for retirement.

I am being shunned
by Amyfa inmy best friend has returned to being a j.w.
after not going for 7 years.
we had an argument because i dont agree with the shunning of any person by the whole congregation just because they don't want to be a j.w any longer.

How Were Intelligent "Sisters" Treated In Your Congregation?
by minimus inas a rule, i believe jehovah's witnesses treat females as sub par to the menfolk.
i knew a lot of women in the hall that were smarter than their mates.
they begrudgingly got respect from most of the elders.

Brother WT Conductor pulls Sister Scully into the back room after the meeting with another Elderâ„¢ to clarify the local practice of not permitting Sisters to "correct" Brothers.
Holy crap!
I don't recall having that 'local practice' in any of the congregations I was a part of, yet I'm not surprised at what I'm reading.
If a person is wrong, then they are wrong. It shouldn't have anything to do with the genitalia that person is hiding downstairs.
But I guess pride and sexism gets in the way of some people.

Now is not the time to be thinking that maybe they will change if we try to be nice to them.
You make a great point Frank,
If we allows ourselves to think that by being nice to them, then maybe, just maybe they will change their ways,,, then we are falling back on our old j-dub way of thinking. The j-dubs use this very strategy in trying to win over unbelieving spouses.
You're right,, it's time to face reality.
