Don't confuse the issue. Sometimes there are zero alternatives to the no blood policy. In other words: take blood and you live, or refuse and you die.

I have no problem with avoiding blood and using the safest medical procedures available. I do have a problem when a person's religion has a medical policy that results in death for those that have little to no chance of surviving without the use of blood products.

It should also be said that the unborn babies aren't choosing to potentially die because of a cult's medical policy. Give these babies a chance to live and grow to become adults that can make their own choices to commit suicide for a cult.

i was raised a jw, by an inactive jw mom.

looking back, and reflection on my childhood, causes me to wonder.. i honestly did not miss the holidays, for example.

i never had them, so nothing was taken away in that regard.

Me too. I assure you that you're not the only one who's personality was f$cked over by this cult.

I never felt comfortable as a j-dub, so I perfected the ability to mimic or copy the personality of whomever I was friends with at school. It was my way of fitting in and trying to gain acceptance. Sort of, a double personality. A way of escaping the fear that was forced down my throat while playing the good little j-dub persona.

As an adult, I can make friends with anyone I meet. The problem is, I never retain or continue contact with the new friends that I make every day. I'm searching for and slowly discovering my missing true personality. At this time, I think my biggest hurdle is getting past the indoctrination(brainwashing) that I cannot be friends with 'worldy' people. If I can get past this, then maybe I'll develop a true network of friends outside of the jdubs.

How the new "generation" study went down in the meeting today

i made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.

i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.

well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.

I am going to my first meeting at a Kingdom Hall today......

i decided to take in my first meeting today in an effort to better understand my girlfriend's family.

to be honest, i am not looking forward to this at all.

i know most all the people i am going to meet are nice and mean well.

I agree with Brant. Just hit it and quit it. Then find a new girlfriend. Most likely she'll go back to the j-dubs at some point in her life. At the very least, she'll hang onto a lot of unresolved j-dub issues.

How important are looks to you?

i am just curious how much looks and superficial things plays a part in your decisions in life.

i work with a young lady, she could be my daughter, well if i was young and out there early, and she's fresh out of college, from a sorority and let's everyone know this.

anyway, she will only talk with, be friendly with the very good looking people in the office.

OIL in N Dakota!!! Time to Keep it out of the private sector.

i guess they've found a whole whack of oil in n dakota, largest in the country - now what to do with it.

keep it out of the hands of the oil companies for sure and you have to wonder if it wouldn't be a wise decision by the state to sit back and evaluate it for it's worth.

if they keep it as state owned, they can use their own state bank to fund the development and then build their own refineries - sell the product to the other states and that could easily dissolve the imports from saudi arabia and the middle east.

You actually want gas at $10 a gallon? I guess you were just being sarcastic.

Sarcastic? Maybe a little bit. 10 bucks is a bit much, but I still think 5 dollars per gallon sounds about right.

If you really believe that then I hope you also believe in paying triple taxes for social programs as well to buffer all those who are losing their jobs or have their hours cut back already. I hope you believe in increasing the funding for food banks and for kids food programs. I hope you believe in free medical care for all those unemployed and their families who are and will suffer even more as this continues. I hope you believe in subsidies to seniors and low income families as home heating oil in some of the coldest locations, has risen so high that there has been concern over trying to keep the elderly warm this past winter.

We should be working toward independent fuel sources and investing in solar and wind power, but until we do, I hardly believe that rubbing your hands in glee over rising gas prices is helping. The country as a whole, state by single state, should be planning their infrastructures and transportation needs to take all this into consideration - oil in N Dakota is one way to make it happen there. sammieswife.

I agree. Increased energy costs will be just the incentive we need to develop those alternative energy sources. In the short term it will be painful, but it will force americans to get in line with the rest of the world by driving fuel efficient vehicles.

Let me be very clear. I'm affected by fuel prices much more than the average person. I'm self employed, and on the road 60+ hours per week. I was driving a toyota camry and spending 1000 dollars per month on fuel alone. I have every reason to complain and whine like the rest of you, but I don't. I put my money where my mouth is. I'm now driving a vehicle that gets 50+ miles per gallon. I did what's best for my pocketbook, yet it was a decision that will help reduce the amount of energy I consume. That benefits all of us! Now that fuel prices are ripping into your pocketbook, I hope that it will eventually force you into lifestyle changes that will also be for the greater good.

There is no excuse for $3+ gasoline, and we shouldn't have to ride around in Prius'. I demand cheap oil--dang it !!!

I hope gas rises to $10 per gallon.

What would really be great is if someone could make a car that runs off of something readily available such as tap water,

I'm developing one just for you, but I'm only installing this new technology in a Prius.

i was told today by a heavyweight elders wife, both of whom were at bethel for many years and are very well connected to the brooklyn brass, that all brooklyn bethel operations will be moved to wallkill and patterson.

in fact, there is a very exclusive walk-through next week for some of the top real estate investors/developers who will see all the properties, starting with the sands, and its lobby has now been remodeled to look just like a high-end hotel..................just fyi.................................oompa

If they sell everything in New York, it will help immensely with any cashflow problems they may currently have.

The good news is that they'll have nothing of comparable value left to sell if they are ever in need of serious money again.

your is a possessive pronoun, you're is a contraction.

they're two different words meaning two very dissimilar things.
