  heres the situation.... met a girl i am tottally infatuated with.

  i could just hang out with her and not have sex but she has not been in a relationship in a year and shes pretty horny.

  im a normal dude so i dont want to refuse her.. i cant decide if im rationalizing my feelings.

  To the cult member, it may be a group think mentality, imaginary self preservation or a misguided principle, the end result is that a child is sacrificed. I did not say that jw's do not love their children. A jw is willing to sacrifice their child because the child is ultimately slightly less important than the jw belief system.

  Discussing the jw mentality can be productive from a non cult member point of view. It is to ones advantage to be prepared for a worst case scenario.

  Elder patrol, how much blood is on your hands? If you are an elder, you are in a position to actually save a life(and no I'm not referring to recruiting new cult members with your preaching work). What will you do if involved in a situation involving the blood doctrine and a child within your congregation? Will you step up and do the right thing, knowing that it may cost you your position as an elder? Or will you follow the other jw lemmings down the blood soaked path created by the watchtower?

  Gayle! Thanks for the input. I had forgotton how the jws use Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his own son as an example to follow. That is a great example of cult indoctrination. Teaching that it's ok to murder your child with a knife to appease an imaginary sky daddy is unbelievable.

  I hope that I can have the same success in keeping my daughter safe from cult mind control.

I see the smile on my wife's face. There is no doubt that my baby girl has brought much happiness and purpose into our lives.

  I hear the joy and excitement from my family as we talk about my first child. My mom(and other family) living out of state, look forward to and enjoy the pictures and videos that I send almost daily.

  I can't help but wonder how these same people that love my baby girl would be willing to sacrifice her to the watchtower blood doctrine.

  Years ago, a family relative and his wife had a son with significant health problems at a young age. I was very young at the time and do not remember all of the details. What I do remember is that his blood count was dangerously low and a blood transfusion was required. This relative and his wife refused the transfusion however being in the US, the local courts allowed the medical staff to perform the necessary medical procedures that saved their son's life.

  As a parent I am willing to give up my life for my child. Is a witness willing to do the same? I think the answer is no. A witness in a situation involving their child and the blood doctrine could authorize the doctor to give the necessary blood. Ofcourse, the parent would have violated their blood doctrine and risk losing their life to their 'loving' god but there would be no denying that the parents are willing to sacrifice themselves to save their child. As we know, that's not what happens. Instead, the parents forbid the medical staff from performing life saving procedures and it's up the court system to step in. These parents are willing to sacrifice their own children for a chance to please their god and live forever. They are trying to save their own life at the expense of children. That is an extremely selfish act. A parent is willing to make a martyr of an innocent child. It's an act of murder.

  Maybe I should be thankful that I'm unable to understand jw parents. If I understood their view, I'd be at risk of agreeing with or being complicit in their fucked up blood thirsty doctrine. I do know this, I will never allow my wife or family to put my baby girl at risk. It's my job as a father to protect, care for, love and appreciate the bundle of joy that she is.

  That's a good point. The wt has flexed their legal muscles to have unfavorable websites removed. Ray Franz had a lot of documents to back up what was published in his book. Legal action against Ray Franz would have resulted in more exposure to the skeletons in the watchtower's closet.

  i have a question.

  today at work a woman was saying that she was upset because the foster mother of her children had taken the children to the dr and they received their immunization shots.

  she told a co-worker that she was mad because they did not respect her beliefs.

  Today I just learned that a local jw known by my wife and I, refused all vaccinations for his 5 year old son. He's old enough to possibly remember the former wt ban on vaccinations and that may have factored into his anti vaccination viewpoint. On the other hand he's a believer in all the latest conspiracy theories regarding vaccinations, commercial planes spraying chemicals in the atmosphere, government involvement in sept 11th, etc, etc.

  His reasons really do not matter. What matters is that his decisions are putting his son at risk. His wife is filipino so they take trips to the philippines. I would think he is at greater risk for contracting something that he should have been vaccinated for.
