Who's getting rich at WTBTS?
by fish ini see a lot of talk on this site about all the money wt is making or trying to save.
is there evidence that the governing body or other higher ups are being enriched financially?
i've never heard of anyone getting paid anything for their work within the organization.

It's the power that they experience by being the head of a multi-million dollar corporation.
I agree Gary1914.
Money is very appealing to men, but there is one thing more attractive than money. It's power, and that I believe is the motivation behind many of the goobers at bethel.

You have our support here, Lola. BTW I don't think you were being stupid. We all reach a point where we have to be vocal about our beliefs and opinions.I'm slowly getting there. I'm now posting my actual pic here. Damn the consequences!!!

You mean to tell me, normal people don't get married at 17 or 18?
by free2beme inas a witness, most if not all of my friends were married by 18, with many woman married by 17. it was so normal, that when i left the religion and met all these people married in their 20's and later, that it seemed like they were starting late.
i actually was a late person in getting married, i was 23. i remember being one of the few people my age in the congregation, not married yet.
i actually remember thinking, where am i going to find someone to marry, that is not yet taken.

approx 80 percent of marriages involving 18-20 year old bride/groom ends in a divorce.
No thanks, I'm glad I didn't partake in that j-dub custom.

Puke-making article on WTS homepage
by yaddayadda in"discipline that yields peaceable fruit".
http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1988/4/15/article_01.htm.
notice the blatant abuse of context in saying that the 'no greeting' treatment to be given at 2 john 9-11 (persons bringing an anti-christ teaching to your home) should be the same as 1 cor 5 (persons who wilfully practice sins of the flesh).

I love how they try and compare family discipline to congregational discipline. I'm sorry, but I'm not aware of any normal functioning families that use shunning as a
form of discipline to their children.
I can see it now. A father says to his 4 year old son. "little Jonnie, because you put crayon marks all over the wall, you have to live outside in the treefort and not speak with us
for six months or longer!"
Yeah sure, we can compare congregational discipline to family discipline, though we better be talking about a very, very disfunctional family.

Going to Memorial Service for the first time.....what should we expect?
by whyizit inwe spent 6 months "studying" with a jw couple.
they claimed the wts had all the answers, but they actually couldn't answer any of our questions.
(we are devoted born-again bible-believing christians.).

Yeah, my bro called me to 'remind' me of the memorial date. Then today he calls to tell me(brag) that he is fixing the kingdom hall lawnmower.
I thank god I live 2000 miles from some of my idiot, I mean 'loving' family members.

getting married at 18 or younger occurred when I was that age and continues to be the norm in my former congregation.
My sis married about 1 week after her 18th birthday and had numerous children by her early twenties. Unfortunately her marriage isn't doing so well either.
