Why did the JW's Shun my mother at her funeral?

my mom had died on december 9, 2005. she had been loyal to that religion for 35 years.

she had been in a nursing home for the last two years.

some of the old ladies would come and mom would still write a letter to a "not at home" once and awhile.

Some of the old ladies would come and Mom would still write a letter to a "not at home" once and awhile. She was in good standing. The rest of my family, (three brothers and a sister), didn't want her burried in that faith. We had to put up with the Faith Talk at my fathers funeral back in 1995 and didn't want to hear theirk story of death. We thought about having a private funeral so as to not deal with the witnesses but chose to have a wake service one day, then the next day a funeral at my Catholic church. My priest was totally fine with the idea so we went ahead with it. Even though we were not 100% keen on the idea of seeing all her witness friends, we thought that they would come to the wake and not the funeral. Anyhow out of the hundreds of witness friends she had only one came. I even work with two witnesses who both knew her and didn't show. I want to ask one of them what happened but haven't gotten my nerves up to do it yet. So did they punished my Mother by not showing up? I think its very sad that they still couldn't show there respect during the average wake service. To me it speaks volumes about the people she knew, what are your thoughts? I could see they were upset with the family, but they never even honored her. Isn't that sad?

jws aren't supposed to breakdown in their emotions for it could be a sign that you put too much emphasis on the temporary.

just focus on the ressurection, for heaven' sake!

When my JW mother died we didn't want "The Talk" We had her burried through the Catholic Church. Mom had been a Jw for 35 years. But the part that I thought was so disrespectful is only ONE JW even came to her wake at the funeral home. Why didn't more of her FRIENDS come?

is there a religion that really puts god first, that really cares about its followers, that really adheres to bible principles?

Whatever religion brings you to God is your true religion. I am not talking about cult religions though as they has a hidden agenda.

) mentioned that getting a tattoo is a matter of conscience.

Just so you know I got a tattoo because I wanted one. I looked at several and chose something that reflects me. Thats the only reason I got one................

I have two of them seaguls on my chest and a jester on my shoulder. One of the straight guys at work saw the one on my back and asked why anyone would put a tattoo on there back. I just told him I thought my gay boyfriend should have something to look at when he is working back there. No one ever asked again!

Good for you BRAVO! I wish more people would think about there organizations instead of the blind faith thing. Its great you saved someone!

i think she could do a great show on the misrepresentation of medical and secular facts issue.

let's just visualize this show: hlc members, elders, litigants (who won against the wtbs), the author of the essay, kerry louderback-wood, the baylor u. ethics professors, the woo-hooing audience, etc.?
