  Alleged Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus

  most exjws are familiar with the claims that the gospel accounts about jesus "fulfills" around 300 prophecies in the old testament.

  this claim is taken verbatim from christian fundamentalists.

  checking out these so-called prophecies will reveal that they do not stand up to scrutiny.

  I once battled --- when still dubious --- with an orthodox jew. He challenged me to prove that the Messiah is of anything else than a human nature (i.e. a spirit, angel, divine) using the Old Testament only. I thought "piece of cake", then I tried and failed*.

  * Unless you're willing to agree to the usual WTPC bible hopscotch accompanied by a fine amount of 'Hineininterpretierung'.

  i enjoyed englishman's post about americans vs europeans.

  i chose to start a new thread because i want to take the topic in another direction.. the usa is still a young nation and an enigma.

  the nation was created by european settlers who wanted to get away from things they did not like about europe, especially religious intolerance and inflexible governments, and have the opportunity to build a new future.

  I would ask one thing of all from around the world. Please try not to judge America by the handfull of Americans you may have met in your lifetime. This is a very diverse nation of over 280,000,000 people. We did not get this large because we spawn fast, but because on continuing immigration. Americans that travel abroad are not necessarily a good sampling of our nation as a whole.

  I agree in principle with the statement above. It just makes me wonder why at least 10 million (metric that is) of those mentioned above, made a decision every day of the year 1999 with regard to the following:

Oppenheimer, McDonalds, Harley Davidson, Fred Hall, Coca Cola, Britney Spears, the Watchtower, Apple, John McEnroe, Playboy, Kingdom Melodies vol. 3, and of course Viagra, we can now add Jerry Springer, Oprah, and Jenny Jones to that list of genuine American blessings.

  such as eric frost saving his skin and selling out the others, the 1934 yearbook, only 635 prison deaths that include 203 executed but now has suddenly become 1,000s, how it was all the churches fault even though a few 1,000 poor priests (at least 5 times more than jw victims) were executed in the camps etc.

  After a more thorough read from a paper copy I need to correct the above. What I read was about a brochure that was especially published (by the MfS) to discredit Frost, as well as some letters allegedly sent to various Bethels around the world, which carried counterfeit signatures from prominent JW-deathcamp survivors.

  The story about Frost is partly due to a 1961 article in Der Spiegel, July 19th, "Väterchen Frost" [edit: this scanned article is present on Kent's site]. Below you find a link to a recent article claiming the journalists from Der Spiegel were fed by the East-German Stasi (it is in German) [edit: possibly as a reaction to Frosts letter where he's claiming bOrg property back?]. I am not sure about the site owners relation to the bOrg, so it may be biased. Apparently the article was published in a German theological magazine. From the bibliography it can be noted that the author had access to the 'Geschichtsarchiv' (history archive) at the German bOrg HQ at Selters. I need to spend a lot more time on it to form an opinion about its validity. One of the claims done is that the persons supposedly 'betrayed' by Frost were already in jail or well known to the SS.

  Kent: I've taken a look at the documents at your site and just wonder where they originate from --- I couldn't find that [edit: I mean those you recently asked translation help for].   i'm sure you've all noticed that we have grown quite a bit over the last few months and seem to get busier every week with more people joining every day.. while i do my best to read and monitor all the threads on the forum to make sure that no one causes trouble it is becoming very difficult to do this all the time.

  with this in mind, i'd like to ask for some volunteers to help keep an eye on things who i will setup with some extra permissions.. i don't intend for the forum to be 'ruled over with an iron fist' or anything like that.

  it would really be so that we could respond quickly if anyone started causing trouble (eg.

  hey all: this is short and good i recently had a total crash on my pc.

  i built the thing myself, and it used to run like a race horse.

  but, unknown to me, my old anti-virus program was not updated due to my subscription running out, and my getting lazy about staying watchful.. so, i installed a new security program.

  Could there be something wrong with your detection software? 23.7.291.313 is not a valid IP address where each number separated by dots should be in the range 0..255.

  Do You Think That You Might Turn Back To Jehovah?

  i`ve never yet been snubbed by a jw.

  the reason is that i refuse point blank to speak to them unless they speak to me first.

  so, if i`m visiting my jw mum and jw visitors arrive which they often do i just smile, raise one eyebrow slightly, and look `em straight in the eye!.

  How do you reply to being asked: ”Do you think that you might turn back to Jehovah one day, perhaps?”

  I was invited last year, that is early december, by someone working my street and whom I couldn't avoid, to join him for some good old door banging. I hadn't seen this guy for more than a year. Not giving me a chance to answer his question at all it was immediately followed by "So when is convenient for you?"

  I said "well, this year I'm waaay to busy." Silence, accompanied by a kind of half understanding grimace. "And I guess that will be the same for the next five years or so."
