Jehovah Witness confusing doctrine about abstaining from blood

why do jehovah witnesses say they abstain from using blood when they are now allowing their members to use certain blood fractions.

the answer i always get "if their concious allows them its ok it not for us to judge".

if that is the case, whole blood should also be allowed if their concious allows them to.

if blood became a strictly conscience decision - how would the "lifers" justify it?

The generation change became light getting brighter and brighter - and now the fact that we preached the 70 or 80 years and "this generation will by no means etc" has actually been, not exactly denied but my jw family gets a glazed over look and they just shake their heads, because I have been away from the org too long and no longer see the light as it gets brighter and brighter

it's a terrible thing to think, but could that happen with the blood issue? Will they just forget

personally, I am going to donate blood to the Red Cross (i've thought it for a while, but now that I have posted it, I plan to actually do it!) The scrip about the Isrealites selling unbled meat to the non beleivers is a pretty compelling reason to help others - PLUS I have a lot of jw family that now may say OK to fractions - and where else does it come from???

anyone else planning to ante up?

my parents - 40 plus years in - are really having a hard time understanding this change. the new forms are confusing and they see the future - in a decade new jws won't even think this is a big deal and the "old" ones will be gone.

one of my siblings was at their house as my mom tried desperatly to decipher it - my dad did not want to talk about it in front of a faded jw but it was so sad to see them not sure what their Much Adored Borg was trying to tell them to do My dads comment was that it was the evil slave trying to make it sound worse than it was - yet they don't have a clue what the GB'd direction to them is

as my sibling said - you were never allowed to drink milk - but now cream, 2% or even skim is ok ??? They replied that it was tecnology making it an issue yet as my sibling said "if it is wrong,who cares about technology??? And what about the ones dfed, or dead" It was a huge conversation . although my parents have already forgotten it

i really feel for them - they are starting to see that the entire house of cards is falling- and they are starting to see that we really have to talk about the future and their wishes for funerals, wills, our disabled brother....their promised paradise is a sham and they have no one to help them as they are the "loyal" long terms witnesses trying to help others see a truth that isn't there

i'm really intrigued by that fact that i may know some of you and yet not know that i know you.

i just want to know how many people from canada are here.

if you don't mind and don't care about posting your province (cause i'm too timid to) we could all get an idea of just how many canucks are really out there.

i stumbled upon the following paragraph that scared the bejeezus out of me: .

"one thing is absolutely certain, bible chronology reinforced with fulfilled bible prophecy shows that six thousand years of mans existence will soon be up, yes, within this generation!

Keeping donations.

okay, ever since i learned the truth about the org i stopped asking householders for donations.

i don't want them to support the worldwide work, or waste their money.. but, i was just wondering what the legal ramifications would be of asking for donations... and keeping them for myself.. i realise that i would have to change what i say... i wouldn't say: "if you'd like to make a small donation to the worldwide work i'd be happy to accept it.".

because that would be illegal, like keeping charity money or something.. i'd have to say something like: "if you'd like to make a contribution to cover the expenses, i'd be happy to accept it.

in Canada door to door charity drives are quite common- the volunteer wears (or at the very least has) an I.D. badge and a receipt is always written out for any donation - no matter the size the donation amount must be noted.

Does anyone have any idea how dubs get away with not giving receipts, or even being prepared for the possibility of being asked? All donations to non profit groups are tax deductable - but only with the receipt. The only other way would be like the Girl Guides who SELL cookies for a donation for their "world wide work" - very similiar to the JW at your door offering Free but not so free literature.

Unless I have been faded for so long that they actually DO give out receipts.

Went to visit the EX

i have been dfd and divorced from the ex for six years now.

i have remarried and been living in a idyllic cabin by a year round creek all this time but i might have to move.

so i have been going through all my stuff and discarding what i can to lighten my moving load and reviewing every item, every picture, every little piece of paper.

Great idea for a billboard

the kingdumb hall here in my area is right on a huge street with lots of traffic.

there is an empty lot to one side with a billboard that can be seen from the street.

if you are driving one way the bullboard is actually seen right in front of the kh....i wonder what it would take to advertise on the one side...its could say something like "are you the victim, or do you know victums of sexual child abuse?

i don't know the exact wording or publication but what about the quote about researching your religious beliefs and not being afraid to do so- then one line at the bottom with www.sixscreens.com

billboards are very inexpensive (in Canada anyway) - i'd send you my $50 - probably x10 more people would get you at least six weeks!

my dad asked me and i have been trying to research it- my other bibles don't show multiple marks at all....also - when a verse has a hyphen (or dash) and nothing else, why was it translated this way.

he told me the jw explanation but it didn't make sense to me

Hi Leolia - I feel like a bit of an idiot here but what do you mean "the critical text" vs "received text"? Is this specific to Protestant translations?

jer 27:1 - 11 jer 29: 1-28 jer 29: 30 - 32 the quotations look like this ' " ' " ' " before and after the quote. On bio-crawler when I googled the only them) subject it was obviously a jw who had edited the topic of quotations marks to mention how the NWT uses embedded quotations (but not why only them) and that in quoting these versus in "publications" it requires a further quotation mark series to show this" My New Jerulsalem bible only shows one set while the rheims shows none.
