  Maybe the guy in the hospital bed said his own prayer and God heard him and blessed him because he knows what is in his heart and felt he wasworthy of another chance at life.

  So ur telling me that every other time a guy in that situation died, even though people were praying for him, he had a "bad" heart? I'm thinking no, and monkey. <----sorry bout the monkey part. that's a habit. ;) Anyways, i seriously doubt God would answer a prayer like that, considering many with a good heart die every single year, no matter how much they're prayed for. but that's a different post. let's stick to the question at hand. ;)

  Just kidding. But i need some sort of lead in to my question. When you are born, you are born into a religion. If, that is, your parents are religious people, and most people are. Most people are also born into some sect of Christianity, whether it be Jehovah's Witness ( not a discussion on whether or not they ARE christians ), or catholics, or mormons. Any way you look at it, most of us are Christians.

  Which brings up my question. All christians believe in christ as their savior, and dismiss all other religions as false. Now, were you PREDESTINED to be a Christian? What about the billions of people who are not Christians? Obviously, they believe in their own faith strongly. How can you prove to them that Christianity is the "right" religion? How can you teach them that Jesus was the final prophet and son of God? The only basis we have is the Bible. but they don't use the Bible. What now? One more question. If you had been born into another religion, and felt as strongly about it as you do Christianity, do you think some point in your life you'd discover Christianity and convert? If you were living in a country that was predominantly, say, Hindu? Or would you be destroyed?

  i have been lurking around here for quite some time now, posted a few short replies, and engaged in a little chat from time to time.

  its almost hard to remember, just a few months back, feeling like i was the only one to live through a jw experience and not be sorry that i am no longer a part of it.

  i am very happy to have found this site.. i would like to better introduce myself as i have seen several others do.. i was born in '78 to a fanatical jw mother and an unbelieving alcholic father.

  Do You Fear Death?

  i am very interested to know how all of you feel about the subject of death and the future.

  My 4 1/2 cents on the matter. I'm not sure if this has been said already, as i was just skimming over the other posts, but i do not fear death as much as i fear how i COULD die. I used to spend endless nights awake as a little kid thinking about getting my toe caught in the drain in the swimming pool at our apartment complex. for some reason, drowning has always scared me the most. If i had a choice, i want to die in a way that will fascinate me. Such as being struck by a meteorite. Struck by lightning. Swept up into a tornado. As for the afterlife? Well, i'm not too concerned bout that either. I don't believe in hell. And being eternally dead wouldn't be that much of a punishment for not being a "religious" person, especially if death is anything like sleeping. But my main pleasure in life is making other people smile. I love to hear others laugh with me and at me. And if God finds THAT punishable, then may i eternally RIP.

  Camay, i don't know if ur using the new world translation when looking up these scriptures, because that's what he'll probably use. if i were you, i'd use john 20:25. ;) Notice it says in the NEW WORLD TRANSLATION, "Unless i see in his hand the print of the nailS<-----plural, signifying more than one nail was used for his hands.

  i remember several years ago, the watchtower through the awake!

  magazine tried to tackle the ufo phenomenon and gave a super-watered-down generalization of it.

  today the subject got more interesting.

  Actually, if everybody remembers correctly, aliens may have already been found. remember the possible fossils of those small bacterial worms on mars? i believe that's what they were. i personally do believe in aliens. the thought that they don't exist is quite depressing to me. i've wondered why for a long time, but i guess the reason is i want to believe there is something better than this world out there, somewhere where i can still be human ( not angel ) that i can find peace, prosterity, and a beautiful planet waiting for me.

  My uncle's sister works at area 51. remember how long the controversy went on as to whether or not it existed? unfortunately, i don't know her at all, but i'm sure she wouldn't answer my questions if i did. anyways, where did the advanced technology for the stealth bomber come? there are some pretty convincing tapes i've seen...guess i refuse to believe ALL of them are hoaxes.

  i would be very interested in any creationalists response to genesis 1:30 where the bible tells us that all animals wre originallly vegetarians.. why aren't they vegetarians now?

  what about gnats who only live on blood?.

  this to me brings up a lot of issues that can not be answered.
