  Question for JWs still on the "inside":

  just a question: if you are still jws (for any reason, many just can`t leave because their entire families are wrapped around it, etc), but don`t believe in it, and lead a "double life", how do you cope with going door to door?

  i just can`t imagine how it must feel like to go out there and try to tell people at the doors or in the streets things you know are just bs!

  how do you deal with that?

  But I do agree with you, there might be some "true christians" in the JW-religion. There was one elder (just one) in the congregation I was raised in that was a decent guy. A non-judgemental, caring, respectful person. I could go along with callig him a christian ( just a bit confused, replacing the word "Christ" with "Jehovah", etc).

  I am a "minimal-configured JW";-) 1- 2 hours per month max.
  
  I try to be such a person you mentioned. In the rare hours when I do door-to-door-service, I often help old people if they have got problems (financial, or health care). IMO this is just the right christian service.

  No, God is, according to the WTS, not going to deal with people individually. He is going to deal with JWs (!!!) individually. The rest (all non-JWs alive when A comes) are long since out of the picture. They`re allready dead, for refusing to accept the WTS`s message. So no, God is not going to deal with people idividually. 99.99% of the people of the planet will be (according to the WTS) massacred on the spot. After that, there`s only the JWs left. And they will be judged individually.

  Would you really say there are people so narrow-minded to believe this nonsense word by word? I personally dont know someone.

  the watchtower society and many other fundamentalist christian faiths believe that god is omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent.

  in other words he is almighty /all-powerful, all-knowing and all-good.

  his omnibenelovence though, clashes with his omnipotence in that if he is powerful enough to change the human condition, and he is willing to do it, why does he permit suffering?...

  So answer is - God KNEW what COULD happen as it was HIS creation, and even there he did this creation and universe in such way that even THEN his plan can be fullfilled only now in "hard way". God would not started creation if he would not be able succesfully to lead it to the end of his plan or to the next stage of his plan. It is human nature to think only plan A... but God will allways have plan B and C and even the plans are part of the same plan A.

  Maybe. But we do not know anything. Possibly God`s plan included at first an appropriate response only for the case Adam`s and Eve`s "obedience-test" (without lucifers appearance as serpent) would fail, and maybe, for this case, a sort of "plan light", not leading to such "bizarre" and "strange" situations, as we read in the hebrew scriptures, was in preparation... Maybe, God got really SURPRISED by Lucifers fall, it was the most unlikely case in the eyes of God (we call it Super-GAU /worst case scenario/ in nuclear terminology), and in such a situation, the outcome was really extremely difficult - even for God himself - because he CANNOT change laws of mathematics and logics.... Then, plan "hard way" came...
  
  And, when we further go to analyze such a situation explicitely, we could maybe come to a sort of understanding for many (from view of a scientist often bizarre and weird) things happened in the bible.

  Besides: Presently, we do not know all laws of self-organizing biological structures. Possibly, in future, scientists will find new laws that verify and confirm Gods actions. Makes it comprehensible even for "realistical scientific thinking". Nobody knows.

  Certainly, absolutely YES ! Can be proofed by chaos-theory.

  The behavior of a nonlinear dynamical system like this exhibits a chaos-phenomenon, which is characterized by a sensitivity to initial conditions. As a result of this sensitivity, the behavior of systems that exhibit chaos is random - even then, if the nonlinear dynamical system is deterministic in the sense that it is well defined and contains no random parameters!

  I have described the "essence" or "nature" of this "sensitivity" in another, prior thread. Physics and philosophers have to learn and to grasp, that matter (elementary structure) is "sensible" on very low level.. For instance, It is able to sense time and space.

  Precisely considered, foreknowledge and foreordination is the same.

  God is not omnipotent. Omnipotence would let emerge paradoxes. For instance, God cannot change laws of mathematics or logics. He cannot create a stone so heavy that he cannot lift it.

  Is It That Big Of A Deal To Die At Armageddon???

  The only difference between dying at Armageddon (an unsubstantiated future event based on mythology) and dying before Armageddon is that someone dying before Armageddon has a hope of resurrection (another unsubstantiated future event based on mythology).

  I personally do believe in a social, cultural and political cataclysm. One may call it Armageddon, or the total change of the system, or the mother of all revolutions, or other. Thats not the question.
  
  The problem is: Nobody will ever know the begin of A. Nobody will ever know the "nature" of A. . Nobody will ever know whether A. has just begun or not. Nobody will ever know - if A. indeed has begun - how long it will last. Nobody will ever be able to determine, whether a person died BEFORE or WITHIN A. And nobody will be able the say, whether a person will have resurrection or not.

  even when people say that they're done, they're never coming back, they reappear......what's wrong with us?

  hello all.

  This is only board I know where I can discuss all sort of topics one can imagine. With people all around the world. If it is a JW-problem, I find a JW answering me; if it is about WTS-critics, I find a WTS-critics answering me; if it is a scientific problem, then I find a scientist; and if it is an odd question, I certainly find an odd guy answering me;-) Same in all other matters.
  
  This board is really a singular one. Nothing compares to it.

  since i discovered the 4th dimension, one of the conclusions i have reached is, the 4th dimension is an infinite access to the truth.

  throughout this website, i use the term "i wish" - it is really a way to voice a person's desire - and from the work i have done - it really works.

  from the saying: "ask and you shall receive", i have understood that any human being can make an infinity of "wishes" and receive the truth (the correct answer) to every question they may have, in the form of a dream - that same night.

  I do know that in the U.S. there is an increasing tendency toward consensus science, where opinion of the majority holds quite a lot of sway.

  We can see this tendency in Europe too. It is because Popper`s criteria are too rigorous for the scientific society. They more tend to the epistemology of Thomas S. Kuhn (1922 - 1994), an US-philosopher.
  
  He was the creator of the term "paradigm". In contrary to Karl Poppers "falsification", Kuhn postulated that paradigms cannot be falsified. A paradigm has to be abandoned not before it can be replaced with another. Abandoning a "reigning" paradigm through the scientific community without substitute would mean - according to Kuhn - the END of the scientific activity per se.
  
  Carefully considered, In the sense of Kuhn`s epistemology, there are "paradigms" (like Einstein`s RT or Planck`s QM) reigning until doomsday, because any approach regarding substitution and/or replacement would endanger the recent university system.
  
  For instance, the ET (Theory of evolution) is just such an example too.

  Mixing physics with theology does not make any sense.

  The only way allowed in the eyes of scientists, is to try to explain supernatural phenomenons by natural laws. If there are no laws, you can try to discover new one. But science always demands Popper`s criteria of falsification. This means that a new theory has to be both verifiable and falsifiable. If it does not fulfill these criteria, the theory is no scientific one.

  i bumped into a jw at the store the other day.

  he doesn't know i'm df'd (apparently) and i didn't decide to enlighten him.

  he banged on for a bit about people we both knew, how service was that morning, etc.

  Ohhh...Mhm.., Texas is a special place with some weird inhabitants. They are able to reduce the earth`s population at first so they fit properly.;-)
