You guys are reminding me that I'm slacking.
This spring I was a regular at the local track but once the temps got over 90, I quit. I usually combat this by going in the morning but I have been unmotivated to get my butt up early. I have workout videos and stuff I could do in the house but they bore me to tears. I really like walking/running with the ole MP3 player.

I hope he takes it well too. I'm glad you are being careful and plan to test the waters before filling his ears full.

I'll tell you what I want to wear -- A very tailored perfectly neat business suit (with pants!) .. I just think it would be funny to see them wonder who I was. I think I would go to the bathroom and reapply my lipstick so I would have a chance to get closer and a chance to talk to one of them.

What a deal!
by frozen one ini was talking to my neighbor earlier today and he told me his daughter was buying a house.
the house, a brand new 3 bedroom/2 bath built to energy star standards, has been for sale for over a year.
it was built by a local low to moderate income housing organization funded with a mix of public/private dollars.

I realize that equality is not here. We should be working to improve the situation. A lot of times black people are still not treated fairly and it really saddens me! But how we go about fixing it in the form of hand-outs is not the solution in my opinion.
The only way to help heal some of this racism is to actually treat us all as equal. Schools in black communities should be the same as schools in white communities. On the other hand, a black woman shouldn't get a deal on a house when another poor white single mother does not.
On a side note, considering the state of most African countries right now, I would say that blacks have a lot more opportunities here than they would have if slavery never happened. Is it such a stretch to be thankful and proud of the progress America has made? It's not fixed but thank goodness for the progress made in the 20th century! I hope to be alive when some form of equality is acheived. -

I had surgery Dec 28th, 07 (you can skip the first paragraph .. it's just venting)
I have had issues getting my insurance company to pay. It's not the insurance company's fault. I've had this insurance for years and never anything but excellent service. It's the hospital. They won't answer the phone when I call the patient accounts department and they won't file a claim to the insurance company. The hospital keeps sending me bills and has now sent me to a collection agency !! ..UGH .. So I called the insurance company and asked them for help. They told me that I could get an "operative report" and the bill from the hospital and anesthesia bill and they would pay directly to me and I could then send them a check... ANYWAY
I get the operative report today and the first sentence is this: "After informed consent was obtained and blood products were made available, the patient was taken to the operating room." ... AAAHHH .. I almost fainted. I didn't get a blood transfusion but that freaked me out! Anyone else been faced with this and almost had a nervous break-down? LOL -

OK, let me explain....
by dawg inso, the last few threads i've written have been about telling your families and friends how you feel; many of you have given me the reasons you don't speak out to your families, but i want to tell you the main reason you should.
please let me explain.... .
i keep on stressing this point because how it makes you feel, i'm telling you all, that for over 19 years, i let information about my thoughts out slowly, then the tipping point... at my uncle's funeral 2 february's ago, while listening to my family pontificate at dinner about who so and so is pioneering and the like, it hit me that i was sick to the core of them throwing their bullisi*t beliefs at me like i was inferior or something.

Once I tried this and it seemed to work --
I talked about heaven vs. paradise and just using the New Testament. Tell them that you think Jesus provided "new light."
(This can be done with their Bible for an added bonus)
You can go to revelation ch. 7 and show them how the great crowd is "in the temple". If you remember their rebuttal is that they are in the outer courtyard which is earth. The thing is that according to the Watchtower and according to all Interlinear Bibles, the word used there is the word for the inner sanctuary, not the outer courtyard. So the Great Crowd is said to be in the "inner sanctuary" and that's hard to deny.
Also Rev 19:1 says the great crowd is in heaven. They will say that that's not the same great crowd but after the Rev 7 stuff, let's hope they see how flimsy that is.
I like this because it is more like a Bible study approach and looks less like you are digging up the past and being difficult-- something that many will dismiss anyway as irrelevant. It makes you seem like a student and it allows you to stay in the question and student role and keep away from sounding like an apostate.
They are likely to bring up Rev 21 -- If they do, emphasize these parts: "new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven" and "the dwelling place[a] of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God."
