I can't believe what I did.
by reneeisorym inso yesterday i was watching the news and i saw something about secret santa.
there is this movement of people who hand random strangers $100 bills at places like laundry mats and thrift stores.
so i was "moved" and decided to give it a shot.

BA, it was the attitude I was getting about it that hurt my feelings. It's a valid point. Thanks for stating the point politely and helpfully rather than criticizing me.
I feel like a time when I was needing support, I get flamed. I keep running through my head things like "But when I _______ and when I __________no one ever found out about it. It's not like I go around bragging about myself all the time."
I was seriously concerned that I was being a poor steward of the money God had given me when I started this post. You all have given me a lot to think about and encouraged me. I thank you.
I honestly have tears in my eyes and feel wrongly accused. I may not come back to this board.
You guys are welcome to lock the thread.

oooh thanks for reminding me of that one. Mom used to make that. She used to put chillies in it sometimes for a spicy version.

I got a sweet reply too. She said she really liked it and it has been very useful so far. I still haven't opened mine but I sent a note saying thank you and that I would send another note after I opened it. I've always been so happy with my secret santa gifts.
One year I didn't get a reply from the recipient, though. I really is nice to get that.

13,000?
Wow ....
It's really sad that JWs don't experience the joy you can get out of helping people. I never tried to help people when I was in. I thought it was better to preach to them. They are really missing out. It makes you feel so good.

Emma, that's an awesome idea!
You are an inspiration! Much cheaper than $100 too!

That was a nice thing to do. Though by posting your good deed here publicly for all to read and talk about it, it loses something.
Matthew 6:2 "So whenever you give to the poor, don't blow a trumpet before you like the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets so that they will be praised by people. I tell you with certainty, they have their full reward!"Quoting myself:
I don't want to talk to anyone in my real life about it because the whole idea is for it to be a "secret". I'm not doing too good at that part apparently.
Someone tell me I'm not loosing my mind. I feel like I need to be committed.
I know you meant to be helpful. I figure you didn't really read the post, or at least don't understand me at all. I tried really hard not to tell anyone about it. This one gesture was giving me a nervous breakdown. I needed encouragement and I didn't feel like I could tell my friends in real life about it or I would be bragging. No one but my husband knows about it aside from this board. I'm not trying to "blow a trumpet ahead of me in the synagogues and streets". No one at church knows about this and neither do my friends in real life. I felt like here on this forum I can get the opinion of people honestly and anonomously.

I'm hoping that if she ever wants to give up on there being any kindness left in the world, she'll remember that day she was at Wal-Mart. I might never know the story there. I wish I would have had the courage to talk to her a moment. My boldness ran out after giving her the money. :) I'll just have to trust that God was there and it wasn't an accident. I may never do this again. I usually give to people when I know the story. I may give smaller amounts if I do this again, or buy gifts/meals from now on. I think I may try to do more random acts of kindness money involved or not. I'll never forget this, though.

Thanks purps and nina,
You made me feel better. I guess when you are kind to someone, you never really know if they appreciate it or really needed it. It's the kindness that counts. I just hope she feels unconditional love at least this once in her life.
