following the deaths by shooting of 2 teenage girls last week, the uk government is speeding through even tighter gun controls than ever before.. already, high court judges have been told to impose a minimum 5 year jail sentence to anyone found in possesssion of a hand-gun in a public place.
also, consideration is being given to outlawing replica firearms as well as air powered weapons.
much is being made of the violent lyrics sometimes contained in rap - music which appears to often endorse gun culture.. see:http://news.bbc.co.uk/ for full story.. englishman..
Nope nobody is invading the U.S. as of now...
But it sure took more then dumping some tea in Boston Bay, now didn't it?

Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you the first WTBTS Governing Mistress. She was responsible for several articles in the Awake! magazine such as:
What Makes Blue Beach Blue?
Warner Brothers Cartoon: Tazmanian Devil, Truth or Myth?
Dingo Eat Baby
and
We're Sorry About Crocodile Dundee, But At Least We Have Mel Gibson
Man, you people should really research your WTBTS material more often. These gems are priceless.

steve and i attended our very last meeting this evening.
i wrote a thread a few weeks ago about our elder visit and their decision to announce that we were disassociated.
they agreed to wait until we returned from our vacation so i could tell my grandma who still attends via phone link and so she wouldn't have to be alone in her devastation.
Congrats!
Uh...I can't help but notice, there doesn't seem to many people sitting in that Kingdom Hall. It's sorta like a bonus.

It's not about crime. It's not about crime stats. It's not about criminals who use guns.
It's about: Who the hell is anybody to take away my choice to protect myself and/or my family.
Sure, somebody breaks in to your house and wields a baseball bat...what are you going to do? Oh I get it, you just say,"Please roving murdering psycho, please don't kill me...let me call the police first and wait 10 minutes (an hour if they are busy) whilst you wait and surrender yourself". I'm sure they'll oblige to such request, after all, criminal minds work in such a way.
I guess we should ban cars too. I mean after all, criminals steal them and go joy riding often killing people. Knives? Baseball bats? Rope? Let's add some more shall we? I mean come on! Maybe we should require citizens to wear boxing gloves, this way when roving bands of unarmed gang members take their sweet time when kicking and punching people to death.
Oh wait? What is that I hear? Only let the Police, Federal Authorities, and Military have guns? Sure why not. I was watching some old black & white news reels about how this country instituted such fire-arm control...I couldn't understand it...because it was IN GERMAN! I mean after all, government authorities are to be trusted, governments can never abuse such a responsibility of the only ones being armed.
Murder rates? Think they will go down? Ha...HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Jeez, please, don't tell me you've been sold on THAT ignorant pile of special interest crap! One thing we humans do is invent new ways and methods as to what we want to accomplish. Sure, let's say we ban guns, on this alone. Watch the "bludgeoning with blunt object" murder rate sky rocket! Or poisoning, or strangling, or....add some more please!
Yep...banning guns sure abolishes a lot of problems, the problems that stand in the way for criminals and governments to achieve their goals.
As to the opinion of gun-ban happy people from Netherlands (or any other nation) blah blahing about U.S. citizens' rights as to have firearms: Who give a flying leap what you think. Go jump in a lake, preferably one in your own country.
And for the people who like to revision history and play with the words in the 2 amnd. of the Constitution: Since it's draft, I still don't see your argument being enforced. Citizens still have their guns for 200 some odd years now, nothing has changed. Guess everybody doesn't see it your way. Too bad. :P
Wait a second Stefanie, I just gave you an example as to what my perception of a "demon" was.
If you want a direct answer to this question: Do you believe in the WTS definition of demons? I will give you a direct answer: No.
Now as to "supernatural beings", "ghosts", "spirits-be they good or bad", "poltergiests", "casper" and such? Well, personally by my own definition, I do believe that some of these exist. I can't prove it. There is nothing in the scientific world that has disproved it. So the possibility of such "entities" may exist, but I have no facts to give.
As to your experience, who could say? Perhaps it was a "spirit", perhaps not.
Some people who are or left the WTBTS are a bit...oh man, how can I say without getting in to trouble...skeptical? Is that good word to describe? Sure. They are skeptical because the WTBTS has this fetish about "Satan & His Demons". The concept of "demons" (by the WTBTS) is a tactic used in an over-dramatic way as to institute another little (actually a rather big) control practice.
Though I may not agree with them, I understand why they tend to fall in to sarcastic or trivial responses. Think about it for a second. Is there really any "meeting" you can recall where "Satan & His Demons" weren't brought up??? A conversation? The relentless preacy preach of how "Satan is the ruler of the world"? If you decided to think or do something that was questionable, no matter how trivial it may be, the universal counsel often had "Satan & His Demons" attached to it.
I understand why some here may scoff at the idea of "Demons", because of the inherint thought of how the WTBTS views them. In my opinion, the way the WTBTS utilizes "demons" as fear tactic is very silly to me. I can't help but chuckle at memories I have that involved discussions, counsel, talks, and dramas that were do over dramatic about "Satan & His Demons". It's become a eternal comedy routine where the funny just doesn't stop.
So, after being TRULY freed from the WTBTS, I understood that it was okay in this world to define "demons" as I see fit. Some agree, some don't. I like the ones that don't, their viewpoint offers the challenge and NEW perceptions to consider.
Yep...I have experiences with "demons" every so often.
They show up at my door knocking at my door and try to give me magazines and/or pamphlets. They keep trying to "lovingly" show me that their way of perception about an Invisible Demon in the Sky is the only "truth" in the world. They keep inviting me to go to their local DemonHalls and join in their Demon Ministry. In fact, they tell me that if I don't, the big Demon in the Sky will destroy the world in fiery destruction...they even showed me all the nice pictures in their publications of people falling in to deep pits and various global land marks being struck by lightning. One made me laugh, it look like this big Demon weilding a microphone and it was crushing the capitol of the U.S. in Washington D.C.
Of course after such "loving destruction and genocide" by this Great Demon, there will be a nice paradise earth where people wear suits from Sears and dresses from The Bon or Nordstroms. They even get to go hiking and mountain climbing in them. All of them being guided by the 144,000 Demons and the Governing Demons on earth.
Yep...I see "demons" every so often.

Like just 4% of the population you are an ARTIST (DIAF)--creative, adventurous, and deep. Although you are an introvert, your dominant ideas lead you to assert yourself often--especially through your work. You actively put your creativity to constructive use, and because you are ruled by your heart you are less likely to be inhibited by logic. You have an intuitive understanding of emotion and know how evoke it in others, but the real world can be a prison of foolishness and embarrassment if you don't get your head out of the clouds a little more. Also, you are 87% likely to write poetry. Please, for the love of God, stop now. |

Ode To My Secret Easter Egg Hunter
The wind upon your wings may take you far, yet in my heart a constant vision of your beauty keeps me company. Shall you desire a rose within a dark garden full of peril and task, I shall quest for such a rose if a smile is brought upon your lips. For your touch is trivial next to death, and a thousand deaths would be worth but one touch from your finger. Note the stars within the heavens, for they comfort my heart, serving as mirrors to your protective gaze. Go now, knowing that one prayer guides you in your journey, and such a prayer I whipser in moments of hope.

at first when we joined, we all choose a user name that would identify us.
we also had the choice of puting a picture next to our user name.
often, some change the picture for a better one.
D8TA has been with me for near a 20 years now, dagnabit, in my day screen names were a luxury. Not like these young ungreatfull screwballs making up names like candy on the street. There once was a time when kids in my day would walk in 7 feet of snow, with no shoes, carrying the dirt they had to eat for lunch in their naked freezing palms...and when we were GIVEN a screen name, we APPRECIATED it!
Life was much simpler then, nothing but local area networks with Tandy computers hooked together with shoe string and plastic cups! Nothing but yellow and green monitors too, mind ya! None of these hot rod DSL/Cable connections making a racket and disturbing the peace! No sir-e-bob! We had respect dagnabit! RESPECT!

And another thing, you didn't have this World Wide Web and Internet...no sir, you had BBS's. You had to start a fire fueled with gaoline just to get your 200 baud modem to work...and if you were out of gas, then tough luck! We had to WORK 4-5 jobs just to pay for our phone bill. And you know what? We APPRECIATED it!
Damn whipper snappers! Enjoy the screen names you have and quit complaining, there are kids in China using an abacus with silk string for an internet connection, and their government CHOOSES the screen names for them.
