  in my quest to always understand why jws get so f%$@ed up (yes oubliette, lets review lol) i discovered something today.

  in speaking with one of my fellow heathen friends from this site i was talking about maslov's hierarchy of needs in an unrelated subject but i had an epiphany.

  witnesses are held at the third level and never make it to the oh so critical top two sections.

  True, and its interesting to see morality in two places, I think this shows the difference between extrinsic morals and true internal moral behavior of the self aware over indoctrination and institutional morals

  I believe the ones that can rise up the hierarchy will eventually see the organization for what it is and how it does nothing. Its not magic, its not the source of morality, its not actually improving a damn thing.

In speaking with one of my fellow heathen friends from this site I was talking about Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs in an unrelated subject but I had an epiphany. Witnesses are held at the third level and never make it to the oh so critical top two sections. Take a look. The idea is once one level is takem care of you can realize the next. I believe they are stuck in level three and they even have that twisted.

  Good read, my comment to lurkers is that even when i decided to leave this organization I still would have held that its wasn't a cult, because I didn't really understand was a dangerous cult really was, i changed that tune very much. Do the research, take the time. Many intelligent people can find themselves in these groups, and the witnesses are one of many that use the same tactics to a T.

  1. Read About what makes a cult a cult
  2. Really seriously and rationally compare the witnesses to this
  3. Research other groups (scientology etc) that use the exact same model

  this is going to trip you out, after talking with a jw friend who left the org and has great rage against god he's turning to satan.

  he lives with his jw brother and decided host gathering for people interesting in worshiping the devil.

  how will this outcome work with holy people claiming to be jws seeing some guys and girls dressed in dark robes?

  ok... my other thread i cant respond.

  we went to shut up our family... but myhusband is seething and said his brain has shut off.. the stupid is amazing.. they are playing videos that are lame and pointless for the first symposium.. for the first symposium... they asked why the bible has no pictures.

  because it was before photography...jesus used word pictures!!

  What triggered your doubts / awakening?

  i am sort of new here, used a different username for a while but things got 'difficult' at home so i've since been lurking.... what i would be really interested to know, if you don't mind sharing, is what it was that triggered your doubts and initial research which led to awakening, was it a bad experience, injustice, changed doctrine?

  for me, it was seeing mistreatment of young ones in the congregation, they're under so much pressure and as soon as they go even slightly astray they are shunned, either informally (as bad associations which pushes them further into the 'world') or formally - with elders dying to throw the book at them so they even lose their family.... ...then reading about child abuse issues in the press.... ...which led me to silentlambs.

  ...then jw facts, this forum and coc, wham!

  Sorry I thought of one more thing in my evolition out. One turning point was seriously asking myself the following "if I wasn't born in, and witnesses came to my door today, would I even give them the time of day?" The answer was no f%&@ing way! once I got the balls to be honest about that, I realized what am I doing in it then If I would have otherwise just been an athiest?
