Sorry Frank, "men never commit evil so fully and joyfully as when they do it for religious convictions" that was true when it was said hundreds of years ago and its still true.

Schoolyard bully mentality
by FusionTheism ini'm not naming names, but i just want to encourage people on here or on reddit or twitter, and tell you that you do not have to tolerate people who act like schoolyard bullies in the way they speak to you online.
i think anonymity is a big part of it.
they feel like there is zero accountability so they can be a bully all they want.. i recommend just ignoring or blocking anyone who is verbally abusive or treats you like schoolyard bullies treated you.. life is way too short to spend any time dealing with those kinds of people..

basing your life and beliefs on evidence based information frees you from superstitions and fairy tales for those willing to live and believe that way. Why is that so bad???
You're saying that I, as a moderate Christian, should have EXPECTED to be bullied on a website that proclaims itself to be "friendly and tolerant?"
FT you seem very emotional, religion and theism are largely based on emotion (verses the things we are talking about). Your responses such as the one I have highlighted here show you playing into an apologists persecution complex. You started a debate about theism. Debating has nothing to do with tolerance, if we stoned you or disfellowshipped you for believing the way you do, that is intolerance.

In addition, why do atheists (9% of the population, maybe) think they have a monopoly on truth, or that they are so superior to the other 91% of people?
Really FT? You are not helping yourself.
Atheists (unlike every religion) DO NOT claim to have a monopoly on "truth". No, actually a better statement would be that they only deal in truth, facts and evidence, so the things that are considered true are just that. What you are suggesting is that they claim to have all the answers when no they do not, and that is the very thing that really differentiates godless non-religious types from theists, the ability to say "we don't know the answer to a everything, only what is known to be true.
“With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”

These discussions amount to this:
For atheists it's a debate
For theists bullying
that should tell you something right there. Only religion makes people out to be apostates or infidels when the grow as a result of evidence based knowledge.

The Case for Theism
by FusionTheism in"theism" here means "belief in a god" or "the worldview that an intelligent designer created the universe and life.
" ("god" here means a being with a mind who initiated and/or wound-up the universe, and designed life on earth)the most common claim that i see atheists making on twitter, is that "no evidence" exists in support of belief in a god.this post will remove any excuse atheists have for claiming "no evidence exists" in support of an initiator.
atheists can still reject this evidence as "weak," but they cannot truthfully say it does not exist.now, it is true that we do not have "observable, repeatable, falsifiable, empirical, scientific" evidence conclusively proving that an initiator exists, but we do have many lines of philisophical, experiential, and logical evidence.and... here... we... go:1:) many leading scientists, including stephen hawking, say that the space-time-matter universe had a beginning at the singularity/big bang.

Well I love everyone. Even the wacky theists. Where did fusion go? Lol but i do agree we should not be held back from calling bad ideas what they are. But always put away ego and do it for growth, knowledge and progress. And occasional humor.
I will pray to Odin for all of you.

My Story of Waking Up - in retrospect
by cappytan inso, many of y'all know bits and pieces of my story of waking up, but i thought it might be nice to have it all in one place.. i was baptized at 11, auxiliary pioneered every summer, regular pioneer at 17, ministerial servant by 19, then went to bethel for a year.. i always had minor doubts from time to time, but nothing serious.
always dismissed doubts and decided to "just have faith.".
after leaving bethel, i was never really firing on all cylinders "spiritually speaking.
