How the Watchtower Screws Up Your View of Scripture

while i do not argue the stand of atheism (because as a jew i find it totally logical and acceptable), i have noticed that there are odd carryover preconceptions about scripture that some hold as axiomatic about the bible (at least the hebrew texts), misconceptions that have nothing to do with the jewish scriptures themselves.. so regardless of what you may think of scripture, whether you believe it is of g-d or not, i thought some of you might enjoy a reference to see how much the watchtower teaching on scripture might still be influencing the conclusions you are making today...at least about the tanakh.

jews read their texts acknowledging the following:.

1. no scriptural concept of original sin.

Look at the words of the glorious WT "Satan will be “released from his prison” for a short time to make a final attempt to mislead perfect mankind. After that, the Devil will be destroyed."

Now think about that. To make a final attempt to mislead perfect mankind. ie AGAIN. God knows its coming, and is the one letting him do it. you know I have a lot of respect for you and I have even referenced much of your posting. You have a fantastic understanding of the Jewish theology and the bible. I do enjoy your posts very much. And I had spent a lot of time in new York with alllllll manor of jew. I would sit and talk with rabbis on everything from Judaism to kabbalah, hasidics, Israelis, orthodox, fake-a-dox. And everything in between. So trust me when I say I appreciate you knowledge and practical delivery. For me personally. The god and religion thay set of Judaism and Christianity and now islam. Is too small. Too young. And not god. This is no reflection on your deep understanding. You know I'm one of your biggest fans :)

But for me. G-d doesn't fit in the big picture. But keep up the good writing. Your great at putting fundies straight on the religion your forefathers constructed and I get a kick out of that. Little_Socrates there are lots of reasons not to believe in god. To not believe in the paradoxical character who is supposedly like a loving father and at the same time totally fine with having front row seats to mass human suffering, that's sort of different.

Suffering is not the conclusive evidence against the yhwh desert god. But it's definitely a strike against the claims made about him.

Actually If such a character existed they'd want nothing to do with the asshole. That's all. But they don't believe so it's of no consequence.

There are a lot of things that make no sense with this god fellow. Do you know anyone who is in their right mind, not a maniac, and has good leadership qualities that DEMANDS worship? Even if they so called deserve it?

If your loving God exists. His version of love is very strange and my version of him is hed be an ass.
