Anyone who has read what happened here, both to the ancient site and also the grizzly murder of antiquity scholar Khalid Asaad, consider this. What religious/theocracy on earth now most resembles the stories of "god's chosen people" of the old testament? Probably ISIS does. Grizzly public executions of apostates and heretics, sex slavery, genocide, conquest, destruction of other cultures religious/cultural centers.
Jehovah's Witnesses take note, this disease to humanity known as islam and most notably the group ISIS, are doing a better job of being OT God's chosen people than you. Read your bible and think about it. If you cringe when you hear news reports of their brutality and savagery, your meetings and bed time stories to your kids are no different. Wake up. Just because most other modern religions are living a watered down version of the bible, these barbarians are not.
If you're willing to kill for your religion do the rest of us a favor and start with yourself.

Rebel With A Cause....
by The Rebel in" only the good die young".
or at least they remain eternally young and heroic particularly if they died for you.
the trouble is we can outgrow our hero worship and our opinions of that person can change.. this is what has happened to me with my childhood friend and my hero jesus.

What does your baptism mean to you now?
by GiftsinMen ini was baptised on 1st sept 1990, 25years ago today.
it is still a date with deep meaning for me.
i never dedicated my life to serving any man or any organisation, this was my choice - as a grown adult - to serve my god through jesus christ.

baptism is a cult tool used to entrap you socially and emotionally usually before you have the time or ability to know better. -

Very nice! From fellow artist.
I have always found the creative impulse comes from the dark side of life.

I have been waiting to post this 100th post to come up with something half decent. While I was driving this morning this is what I was thinking about.
There are a lot of new folks on here, and who knows how many lurkers checking in. The Watchtower through its meetings, literature, and agents, tells you this is not life, your life is to OBEY, pay your love debt to the bronze age desert god of sheep herding nomads, and get your golden ticket to the petting zoo at the end, what they call "The Prize". If you have lost someone in death, or are just generally kicked around by life, this can sound reassuring, but is it really what its all about? Living a deferred life, in order to have a lifetime of more obedience, love debting and so on? Your gut is telling you no!
No one's life is better than another's we all get what we get as long as were are alive and breathing. What ever we have, as humans our purpose is to grow, learn, and experience. Yes that means you are going to fail at times, but failing is learning. Watchtower has programmed you into wanting what they are telling you is going to happen, that it is IMPOSSIBLE to be happy and have a meaningful life without every unknown and question being answered right out of the gate, even if the answer is wrong. You just can't be happy without a life of 'Knowns". Well that's bullshit. We have time to grow as much as we can. We can experience and learn so much more without the blinders of the Watchtower, keeping us in a fishbowl in an ocean of experience, learning and growth.
So many of you are here, you have started to experience this. I just say keep growing, keep learning. I hear some new ones just waking up say things, like i still believe in god for now, to me this is very reassuring. You are leaving that door open to knock down other things that are going to hold you down from knowing all your potentials. Its good to want to discover truth about the unknown, but its not healthy to stake all your belief in the unknowable.
Don't go through life, grow through life.

Intro and Thoughts
by ThinkerBelle ini've been lurking on the board for almost a year now and i think i'm ready to come out of hiding (although, i'm so nervous as i type this).
i'm not ready to share everything about my story, but the basics are that i'm a born-in, elder's kid, baptized as a teenager because i was tired of hearing people ask me "all your friends are baptized, when are you going to get baptized?
", married an unbeliever (was df, but came back shortly after) and we have two kids.

My baptism = a bad decision made by a 15 year old kid equivalent to signing scientology's billion year contract. A decision pressured on me adults mainly in my own family pushing the idea of "get in the ark quick here comes the rain." -

So come over here, lets hang out, I 99% promise you won't be killed by a lunatic.
I think you guys got me all wrong, I love to make fun of Americans too. But there is the funny part and the reality.
I miss Top Gear UK like you wouldn't believe
I used to crack up at their jabs at the U.S. where other people took it so personal. In fact the road trip across the south I thought was hysterical. Especially how they would keep making references to murder, "the car was most likely owned by a murderer" Or "how many people were murdered in it". To me its hyperbole. Mocking american issues, but also making satire of it as an extreme.
Again I think america has sone good and bad qualities, but why must it be the bane of the worlds existence? every place does. We love everyone! (except the french )
