  Looking down into the auditorium too, there must have been a dozen separate contribution boxes just in the main assembly hall down the isles. As I am looking down at this during the session, I was thinking you cannot tell me that is vastly different from passing a plate!

  Although like their rapture belief now, they will say its not on a small technicality. But it is. In that talk they said "budgeting to support kingdom interests". So how far away do we think they are from tithing??? I can hear it now.

  Rational thinker: "We are tithing now? Isn't that what we've condemned"

  Watchtower: "No we aren't"

  Rational thinker: "but its pretty similar"

  Watchtower: "WE don't tithe"

  Rational thinker: "We do!"

  Watchtower: "It doesn't have the same connotation, so we don't tithe"

  hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.

  i am not negative towards the wt at all.

  so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

  You seem most concerned about the "bitterness" of those hurt by actions of the organizations and less about the reality of those actions. That is really unfortunate. My suggestion about your god questions...

  Stay a JW, keep believing the comforting fantasies, and feeding them to other and recruiting more members. Believe those things until you grow old and pass. Don't let go of comforting lies for harsh reality. Wether god is real or not, wether mankind destroys themselves or not, you are better off with your head in the sand.

  I want to give you an example of these actions you seem to believe aren't harmful.

  Lett goes on JW broadcasting to tell all the loyal follower that the organization does not have a pedophile problem, and anyone saying different is "Apostate Lies"

  Jackson is getting grilled by the ARC and admits that it is a problem .

  Its a captive religion and a cult. The organization will inevitably harm members to protect the unity and illusion of the group. I think that is fair thing to be bitter over, and there are all shades of it here, I have a friend who walked away and lives a completely "worldly" life now, with no real consequences from the org. He thinks they are crooks, but I would not call him bitter as say someone who lost their entire family and social circle for merely questioning your cult.

  If you believe the cult is not guilty of harm, you may as well believe in god and paradise and stop worrying about mankind, because they are all the same fairy tale. You are conditioning yourself to ignore evidence, might as well go all in.

  Blondie I think you are correct. But I like the acronym SAD.

  There was a part on the symposium about managing your family resources. It was basically about having enough budgeted to give to the organization.

  Also the public discourse was blatantly hypocritical. About what God thinKS of religion. Whole thing was patting the organization on the back and trashing other religions for thinga the organization is totally guilty of. It was vomit worthy

  as for myself, i am just pleased i have mended my ways.

  i realise ( now) my time as a witness was a keyhole that looked in to the ground, and licked the elders arse.

  Read something from Dan bilzerrian today on his ig about happiness. And it's basically what I have come to understand at this point in my life as have many others. That two things make you miserable. Fear & judgment. I got baptized basically because of those two things even though I told myself differentry at the time. I grew out of those things, but because I made a choice that put me captive in this shit cult, I grew out of it but still have those elements in my life because I can't undo the baptism. I am embarrassed my 15 year old self wasn't smarter than to get baptized.

  In a lot of ways I always felt embarrassed being a witness.

  Being different didn't bother me, ie not celebrating holidays it really didn't matter to me, and despite being a witness I had many many "worldly" friends and it did not stunt me socially.

  Being a witness did limit me, I was sought after for extra curricular sports etc, and never could do it. I never fretted over it too much, but it did suck.

  Preaching... preaching the witnesses crap was embarrassing... waking people up, making them come to the door on a saturday morning when they are trying to enjoy their family, or their free time, or their sleep or whatever, i found that infinitely unnecessary and yes... embarrassing as hell!
