Welcome.
now totally out mentally, no privileges, miss meetings, never answer, no field service and will never donate to the Org. sadly my wife is still in.
Sounds familiar :)
i have been lurking on this site for 3 years and this is my fist post.
i would like to thank everyone for helping me wake up.
i was baptized at 24, married at 25, ms for 18 years mentally in for 24 years but started to wake up 3 years ago doing research to give public talks, and the actions of arrogant and narcissistic brothers and sisters did not help.

truth is absolute.
there is no such thing as 2=1 or 1=2.. if one starts out with the equation 2=1, one has already failed.. truth = truth.
you cannot change whether something is truth or not.. when the organization teaches one thing as a truth (ex.
The word truth in of itself can have different meanings that are not exactly the same.
If we were to throw the word out and use some other meanings in its place, it may change our discussions.
Is it fact?
Is it reality?
Is it authentic?
Is it the opposite of falsehood?
Again I think we all take a word and try to squeeze it into one meaning. We (and the witnesses) can get into semantic debates about "truth", but should we? or should we take everything piece by piece then apply what kind of truth we are trying to associate with it.
otherwise you get into these practices of silly details. Is the sky blue...yes... what about at night...no...but you said yes... i meant during the day looking up from earth on a cloudless clear day... OY VEY
there are many truth theories, and if a witness ever played this card, you just need to stop using the word "truth" because as we already know, witnesses have their own proprietary definition of what that word means, truth is whatever they say it is right or wrong!.
607 doctrine, is it fact/reality. NO!
and on and on and on
this is a question for ex jw's who have joined another christian faith group.
the purpose of my question iis to find out which christian faith group you chose after leaving watchtower and what convinced you to travel this new spiritual path you are on.
i am interested to know because i personally would like to find a genuine faith group where i can feel true christian liberty as i initially thought i had with the witnesses.
I can't even dislike James Brown's comment because it is gold, GOLD!
Maybe his reference to this total nut job Hovind will wake some people wake up to the kind of mental gymnastics one must go throw to believe this dribble called "Religion"

Hovind is truly wise...
"Evolutionism is a religious world view that is not supported by science, Scripture, popular opinion, or common sense. The exclusive teaching of this dangerous, mind-altering philosophy in tax supported schools, parks, museums, etc. is a clear violation of the First Amendment."

Kent Hovind??? Young earth creationist???
lmfao!
Although he styles himself "Dr. Kent Hovind" or "Dr. Dino", all Hovind's known degrees are from unaccredited institutions.
Barbara Forrest, a professor of philosophy, expert on the history of creationism and activist in the creation-evolution controversy, wrote that Hovind's lack of training makes academic discussion impossible and has said that his understanding of historical and scientific research is deficient. Patriot University is a diploma mill. Karen Bartelt, an organic chemistry professor who debated Hovind, examined Hovind's dissertation and found it is short, contains numerous spelling errors, lacks references, shows flawed reasoning, and does not present any original research.
Hovind presented a version of Young Earth creationism he calls the "Hovind Theory" in lectures and in the book Unmasking the False Religion of Evolution. The Hovind Theory is entirely rejected in the scientific community, and its plausibility has been criticized by other Young Earth creationists.
In the theory, dinosaurs and humans coexisted and Tyrannosaurus rex was a vegetarian prior to the fall of man. *tears rolling down my face*
Greg Neyman, an old-Earth creationist who runs the Old Earth Ministries website (renamed from Answers in Creation), writes that Hovind's articles about humans and dinosaurs coexisting are unsupported by evidence and that they "embarrass the young earth creation science community as a whole".
Oh my god, thank you google... wow you have to be some kind of special genius to embarrass young earth creationists. wow.
Kent Hovind's biggest part of his Wikipedia page is his legal troubles lol. brilliant stuff, just brilliant!

The God haters are every bit as rabid as those that love them some God,
Big difference, "God haters" will only attack an idea with facts, "God Lover's" use suicide bombs, guns, undue influence, shunning, terrorism, bigotry usually aimed at individuals (God Loving and Hating alike ironically).
Bad ideas based on myths deserve to be criticized into extinction. Atheism is not a religion or an idea, simply an acceptance of facts. has nothing to do with WHAT people WANT to believe.
i thought the writer here did a good job comparing the faqs of several high control groups.
hopefully this will be useful to someone out there.. http://thoughtsonthingsandstuff.com/we-are-not-a-cult/.
