Islam is a religion of peace (2)
by Coded Logic inin behalf of the horrific events of saturday night, i just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that islam is a religion of peace.
it doesn’t matter that the quran explicitly says that homosexuals should be stoned to death (7:84) - it’s still a religion of peace.
and it doesn’t matter that the scriptures say that all gay men should be killed (sunan 1:152) - islam doesn’t in anyway condone violence.. it doesn’t matter that every mainstream imam calls homosexuality a sin "worse the adultery" - it’s not a religion of bigotry.. it doesn’t matter that 61% of muslims in the uk think gay acts should be made illegal - islam has nothing against the gay community.. it doesn’t matter that countries with sharia law actively persecute the lgbt community - islam is all about peace and love.

"Shunning" - now a Watchtower word?
by slimboyfat ini know jws have long used the word "shun" in a general sense, as in "shun what is bad".
but i think they have long avoided using the word in relation to disfellowshipping.
in external media or literature wherever the word "shunning" was used in a piece about jws it was usually a good indication it was critical of watchtower and not a neutral or supportive commentary.

Funny how quickly things change. Just in early 2015 I was having a blowout with my family and used the word shunning to describe disfellowshipping. I was quickly corrected by my aunt who said that is an "apostate" word.
Guess not ...

JW TV, this month about evolution
by bohm inthis month the last segment is about evolution.
one is with a sister with a university education in biochemistry who (presumably) teaches at a highschool or public school.
she says that left handedness of amino acids indicates life was created because "if it was a random process half would be right handed and half left handed" (paraphrased).

If they so desired, the society could produce a PhD each month who believes the Earth is flat.
I agree with that. I personally know some PhD's that are incredibly ignorant. In the uneducated org its going to sound like they are brilliant scientists though. PhD "piled higher & deeper"
Its no guarantee of sanity or intelligence. Look at Ben Carson for Christ's sake!

I think this new effort on their part shows they are losing their religion to science and they know a lot are waking up (not so much to jw fuckery) to the bible and god being total BS. Starting to seem more desperate to present "scientific" opinion.

"a certain young man named eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep.
as paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead".

Beards - September 2016 Watchtower
by Listener inthe issue of whether beards are acceptable or not is addressed in the september 2016 watchtower - well sort of.
it is as clear as mud as to whether they are allowed in places like australia, usa and britain.. 17. what are some factors that may affect whether a brother wears a beard?17 what about the propriety of brothers wearing a beard?
the mosaic law required men to wear a beard.

I don't know of any culture or locality that does not generally accept men having beards
Watchtower culture of course.
and i am with JW leaks, I said the same thing to some friends earlier today, I think this is giving Prince a post mortem pass on facial hair since he is being lauded as a devout witness in the media and no one will say different.
