Its true fernando, Witnesses never understand that the burden of proof falls on the person who makes a claim, not on who doesn't accept it. ie; 607 bce

Watchtower has a Philosophy of Totalism
by OnTheWayOut incults tend to have a total explanation for everything- everything that ever happened, everything that is happening now, and everything that ever will happen.
that certainly fits watchtower.
they have a black-and-white perception of everything, they are never wrong, there are no gray areas.

1st John 4:18
18 There is no fear in love,+ but perfect love casts* fear out, because fear restrains us. Indeed, the one who is fearful has not been made perfect in love.+
Compare that with everything that keeps the organization together, I know THEY tell the followers its love, and because its a cult they believe that, but when you wake up you know its fear.
- Fear of dying at Armageddon
- Fear of not seeing dead loved ones again in a paradise
- Fear of the elders
- Fear of embarrassment
- Fear of YHWH
- Fear of family
- Fear of disfellowshipping
Well this scripture seems to make me believe fear is not good according to this particular part of the bible. If you have an abusive mate, and they say love me or I'll kill you, and you do, does that mean you really love them? Or are you saying it because you don't want to suffer? Even (this part of) the bible shows the witness fear machine is WRONG.
By the way I heard this scripture two nights ago from the CO's talk. Hypocrisy.

stuckinarut2
I was arguing with the wife last night about this very thing, that their "loving" concern always turns out to be an investigation into me or someone else. I was telling her this is the direction it is heading with me and she refuses to believe that is the case.

In a nutshell, what is the wackiest jw thing?
by stuckinarut2 inwhat is the wackiest...strangest....most unusual jw teaching or practice?

The complete mental barricade to obvious MAJOR flaws in the organization. I feel i forced the barricade for years until I just couldn't anymore and was honest with myself. JW's live in a constant lie:
- I think for myself
- No one influences what I do
- I am free to do whatever i want
- The organization is loving
- They are 'The Truth"
- We are happy, look no one else is
- Only our lives are fulfilled an meaningful

numbers 12:3 'now the man moses was by far the meekest of all the men on the face of the earth'.

I agree about the political/cultural/religious implications and motives of the entire bible. Not even the OT. But all of it. -

Atheism
by Jonathan Drake inrecent events and book reads (one suggested by cofty i believe- thank you) have lead me to the only logical and acceptable conclusion:.
there is no god.. simple logical reasoning: matter can neither me created or destroyed.
so the amount of mass in the universe is constant.

Yep, I agree with cofty. Enjoy the ride -

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

Has This Site Ever Hurt You In Your Journey Out Of The JW Religion?
by minimus inthis site has gone through many metamorphosis over the years.
i believe it is a kinder, less edgy place tan it was a few years ago.
i wonder how many people were helped versus turned off by this place.

I found my way out, joined this site 3 months ago, and despite the sometimes edginess it has helped me observe similar situations to mine, to vent, to get advice and so on. I like it.
