the age of adam when he died, anyone know?
by brandnew inand if so, does this mean that adam had already invented a timetable, and calendar?

The OT is funny though. It doesn't really give calendar dates. You have to calculate things based on other numbers, one of the reasons it's a fairy tail. The other ancient cultures on earth long before the bible were using calendars. -

Ties at the Kingdom Hall
by CloseTheDoor incouple of weeks ago an elder took a young man aside and crawled all over him after the tms for wearing a "skinny" tie.
it was one of those 2 inch wide ties.
nothing bright or scandalous about.

Its usually an insecure, ignorant elder with a highway patrol officer attitude. Its also generally in small rural halls. Elder pharisees. I remember catching crap when I was younger for baggy suits that were colorful aka zoot suits (it was the 90's!!). now its everything is too skinny, oy vey. @$$holes...
My last two halls I have known actually some amazing elders, they really change the norm, but they are such a small minority they exist no where else in america I am sure. They are older, successful, confident, and genuinely love being positive and helpful. They don't police and are actually very reasonable. I know it sounds crazy but for being stuck in I have hit the elder lottery twice. A handful of good people I would even call my friends and dear to me.
That being said again they are the minority and almost rebels in the org.

Who are the people in JW TV videos?
by HappyDad inout of curiosity, i have caught a glimpse or two of the "drama" style videos.
are the ones in these televised "dramas" jw's or did they hire actors for the job?
i can't see the average jw being able to do acting as good (if you will call it good) as some of these people.

I thought the same, the need great video at the TMS I thought was too polished to be bumbling bethelites. Probably actors who aren't even witnesses -

Apostate views?
by Richard C B inif a brother is starting to look at material on the internet and starts to have serious doubts about the jw organisation and questions the integrity of the governing body.
what steps would be taken to by the congregation to readjust his thinking.
and also if the congregation is not aware of this but he has confided in an individual how would that individual try to help such a brother?.

I believe partly it depends on so many variables, how far did he go? Who did he share it with? What did he say? What is his position to the elders?
Also some halls have elders that are insecure pricks who want to be super troopers and bust people for any and everything, others you have some actual decent brothers, who will do their due diligence but aren't looking to crucify anyone.
Steps they may offer to address his concerns, I was asked to write down questions, in fact I was approached last night by the COBE and asked if I had them yet. They may offer to have another study. I guess its like pornography, they want to know you have stopped looking and moved on lol, back to the business of advertising the publishing company and its kingdom

Mays JW TV Broadcast/Your feedback is appreciated
by ToesUp ini have a pretty good intuition but i have to admit i am going back and forth on the jw tv may broadcast.
i keep asking myself are they really in financial trouble (wishful thinking) or are they just grabbing for more money?.
i always appreciate reading everyone's thoughts and ideas on here.. let me know what you think.

Brother Carlin said it best...
“Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money!” -

Since man is unable to create life does this mean
by Crazyguy indoes this mean possible a creator did or does exist.
there is plenty of evidence of a slow evolutionary changes over millions of years and i do not disagree with this.
but again that fact that mankind can not create a living creature from scratch mean there must be a creator?

Man hasn't created life... yet...
think if it was 1902 you would be saying since man has never flown...

is completely right, from a business perspective these "fiscal" things are all manufactured and controlled. Especially the org, think about it, the they are very much in control of the money they lay out, they dont HAVE to build halls really, if its going bankrupt them, also mortgages that can be used on property holdings could sustain them for some time, and lets not for get the float... yes... when you have gobs of millions and maybe even billions of dollars in transactions, you can reap pretty decent dollar amounts on interest off of floating those amounts, like a bank. Its a show.
