How can they continue the FDS "prophecy" now?
by StarTrekAngel ini know there are another 100 threads probably started on this.
i can't help but to wonder how would anyone be able to defend the existence of the fds at this point.
could anyone play devils advocate?

If such a group really existed (and the bible wasn't a fairy tale), wouldn't they be evident to followers? They wouldn't have to say, "who is the FDS, Oh its us, let us keep reminding you and showing you its US".
To play devils advocate, they will use the "food at the proper time" indoctrination. Its one of the things witnesses don't question. No other group gives food at the proper time, no other group has love amongst themselves.. and so on, they never think about if that is even practical.

How do JW's know that the bible is inspired?
by cappytan inasked a friend of mine this question the other day.
here was his answer: "well, because paul said, 'all scripture is inspired of god...'".
but seriously, that argument is like saying, "the bible is inspired because it says so!

Its a never ending loop, like I see from elders and an elder in the family that want to address my doubts, "lets address your doubts about the bible...using the bible..."

If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance, baffle them with your bull $hit
by hoser ini was thinking of this when i was sitting at the kingdom hall today.
one of the paragraphs in the watchtower stated that the type/anti type teachings were too hard for some to understand.
i could never figure them out never made sense to me.

The witnesses were having a field day where I was with the bits about it not being for the intellectuals, It was getting totally out of hand like you have to be a dumbf%$k to be humble and worthy.
FINALLY one older sister with obviously half a brain put and end to it, saying intellect doesn't mean you can't be humble and worthy... she spoke of Luke, Matthew etc... to be like cool it guys, they all weren't fisherman.
Then the conductor and all the bobble headed sheep agreed almost in unison, "oh yes of course, we aren't saying that intellectual people are incapable of humility" I looked at the wife and was like "thank god (my god Zeus of course) she stopped that insanity."
Also "light getting brighter" was used throughout ad nauseam! Every time I cringed and told the wife, "they are completely misquoting that that over and over again". Afterwards she had to agree, but said "it's not in the watchtower" so blamed it... as usual.... on imperfect people....

Now I have always kept to myself discussing and speculating about this with any witness. I am speaking of the very talented musician Prince. I remember watching the NAACP awards one year ages ago and hearing him thank the one true god Jehovah and falling off my couch. However all the urban legend stuff witnesses talk about I don't contribute to. I know he was baptized, i know he studied and so forth and was known as a JW. However this recent article I found his language interesting, take a look.
Now this is no knock to Prince whatsoever, he is a musical genius and I think generally has good intentions whether he worships YHWH or the flying spaghetti monster, but these particular words, sound to me he is not drinking the WTBTS koolaid any longer.
"The system is broken," he said. "It's going to take young people to fix it. We need new ideas, new life. Most of all, we need new piece. And the kind of piece I'm talking about is spelled 'P-I-E-C-E.' Next time I come to Baltimore, I want to stay in a hotel owned by one of you. I want to play in a building owned and operated by one of you – I'm talking to the young people now."
Kudos to Prince for his positive efforts and using his talent to inspire, I really think its genuine and awesome. I just don't think he's really a witness [any longer].

How much can you buy with a dollar a week allowance?
by John Aquila in$ 1 dollar a week x 8 million jws = $ 8 million dollars a week.
$ 8 million x 52 weeks in a year = $ 416 million dollars a year.
and its all tax free.. you know jws donate more than $ 1 dollar a week!

I know plenty who make up for those that donate though, and put in large sums, plus I have known some to leave their estates when they pass, those are much bigger chunks coming in. You also need to consider the money made off the float when dealing in big chunks of cash like the society is. They sell a property for 400k, the smart accountants at watchtower are making for shit sure that is yielding some serious interest while it's floating around before its "used". -

With this AntiType mumbo-jumbo mostly out of the way, with watchtower saying that we focus on the moral of the account, or practical lesson... wtf makes WTBTS any different than all the other religions that do the same thing?
They built this monster on having special knowledge through the GB, now the GB is laughing in their faces. "Well they were just too complicated to understand for you ignorant bumpkins so forget it". Everyone at the hall raving in their comments about how grand the GB, well the GB changed the game on them 180 degrees and they don't seem to have a clue. Slowly turning up the cult heat so no one jumps out of the pan. All that will be left of this religion is a cult system, its always been there, but everything else is gone except, you better listen and obey or pay the price.
There never was substance to this religion, but a pretty intricate illusion of substance, now thats gone. So witnesses have to ask themselves what are they involved in, its just another religion now with the magic facade gone, except in this one, you can't leave...

German Branch visit talk Mark Sanderson (Parents; don't hinder young children to get baptized)
by Daniel1555 inthe video streaming of the german branch visit program was excrutiating 3.5 hours long.. i just went to see the last 45 min (part of mark sandersons talk).. i think sanderson is quite a sympathetic speaker and he kind of made a loving impression.. he didn't mention controversial stuff (except for one thing i will come to soon).
he mostly talked about how to find joy, even when life is not easy, and how much the gb loves the rank and file.. one point seemed soooo important to him.
parents and children.

I liked how they refered to some obscure example from the 30's most all in the halls have never heard of. What a crock
