I hear nothing, I think I hear witnesses acting more culty in general and reinforcing constantly how great things are... almost too much. I think a time of change is happening, it will wake some, but many will get closer and deeper into the cult (CD) as things get more uncomfortable -

An Obvious Contradiction Mr Stewart is Missing
by cofty inall jws on the stand have stuck to the same line that they have no problem with cooperating with mandatory reporting when state law requires it.. if the law does not require it then bible principles absolutely prevent them from taking away rights of the victim to report abuse to the police or not.. we have already heard from a jw rep a couple of days ago who proudly asserted that when the law conflicts with bible principle they will always obey the bible and quoted acts 5:29 "we must obey god rather than men".. please join the dots!.

Hopefully the arc is just letting them have rope to hang themselves later. They may be playing poker letting them say certain things that will be revisited later. -

I'm not df'd. Innactive. But just based on my being critical of god and the watchtower I was told "I'll talk to you if you call, but I wont do anything with you socially" not shunning at all! I was also told using the word "shunn" is apostate. That really pissed me off. -

Jehovah Witness Wikapedia written by the same people who write the publications?
by thedepressedsoul ini took a look at the jehovah's witnesses wikipedia page for the first time and i couldn't help but notice it was worded very closely to how jw's publications are.
the good stuff seems to be very positive while the negative items seem to be very downplayed.
the talk of persecution is enough to get your average jw wet.

Why aren't the Governing Body members being investigated in the ARC?
by Illuminated inwhen there's a malfunction in a product that causes an injury or death, the head of the corporation is held accountable not the salesmen selling the product.
.
why aren't the governing body members being investigated when they are the root cause of the child abuse issues and the re-victimization that takes place after?.

A gb member will just sit there and parrot misapplied draconian $hit out of the bible. -

Here is the issue:
To all of us and the witnesses we know the GB as the absolute authority on earth for the Desert God Witnesses.
The buck stops with them.
Now in the secular world they have insulated themselves, both legally and in other ways. To quote Loesch, he "doesn't answer to Watchtower". The corporate vale they have created (probably) somehow keeps them insulated (on paper). So they are "defensible" when it comes to them having any influence in these matters. that is what I think has been the shortfall here in the states.
All that being said, the Commission may separate these two worlds out and expose that, that to its members whey wield undue influence (also on policy) while legally staying protected (on paper). These guys are a lot sharper than I've seen.

where there was a conflict between the Bible and science, the Bible would prevail, because all scripture is "inspired by God"
by freemindfade inthought i would put this in its own thread.
it another embarrassing statement from the rc (royal commission not regional convention lol).
it's not even one about abuse, its about the jw's stance on science and the bible.

Interesting, I never thought of it that way -

We can now estimate the absolute minimum number of child abuse cases
by Viviane invincent tool said that he is exclusively working the phones for child abuse cases, but never said he is not the only one.
for now, let's assume the rate of abuse cases averages over time to the three or four cases he gets per month.
let's further assume that, since he isn't the only person working the phones and is on vacation at some point, the number is 4-5 per month, or 4.5 per month.

I know that pedo's come from all walks of life and beliefs, but I wonder if there is something about the religious institutions that draws them?
Is it the idea of salvation from some outside source? Do people who feel there is someone higher up with the power to forgive anything they do make either pedo's drawn to religion? or religion fosters unaccountability for despicable crimes while obsessing over trivial "sins" and nonsense?
When you don't believe in GOD, you are accountable to yourself, no one is forgiving you for the things you do except you. Does someone who is capable of allowing themselves not to believe in the supreme forgiver of sins also less inclined to be involved in such disgusting abuse?
i don't know, but sometimes when i see these numbers, and think back to my history in the org how much abuse I heard of, that there is something that connects religion and child abusers.
