i am sorry but people lose faith in something that is predicted so many times...even when i was a JW i would laugh at people like Nostradamist who said 'the end of the world on this date' and it never happened.

JW literature
by KW13 in.
recovering from being a jw is hard as hell, all your structure and life is built on study, ministry and meetings.. leaving is like someone after stacking up boxes to make steps, pulling the bottom box away...but the people who make it through become strong people and rebuild their lives, make new friends and move on.. what i want to ask is could you read literature by/for jw's now you have left?
i think yes, my reason being is i know that they play with information and then change ideas, there is evidence of this in older literature.. as for current literature i wouldn't bury my head, yes i don't agree with what they say but i am not afraid to point out things.

JW's and you
by KW13 inwhen you meet a jw at your door, what is your response?
do you invite them in and try and convert them?
(i have been tempted but it would be an argument not a discussion.

wow! thats a long time, usually they make a point of coming to places they haven't been to for a while - When the C.O comes around especially - If you are down as 'Don't call Again' usually some elders call once in a blue moon.

Do you invite them in and try and convert them? (i have been tempted but it would be an argument not a discussion)
Do you slam the door after saying no?
Do you not answer?
Speak for a min?
Now explain your answer!
---------------------------------------------
I would love to invite them in and chat anyway, i actually love discussing religion and i am in no danger of being converted back to JW but so far i just speak for a min or two, explain i am not interested and that i used to be a witness....they usually give up after a minute.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses....
by Honesty invictims of an evil group of men masquerading as the voice of god?

Personally i would say that other than people who just enjoy gossip, being nosey or whatever you have a group of people being mislead in the biggest way possible. What i wonder is how the average JW will react if the rugs pulled from under their feet and clear evidence is publicly displayed...it wouldn't suprise me if the WBT-Society said this is a 'sign' and the desperate people will cling on and believe!

I think they are after me.
by Champion ina friend of mine told me 2 jws came to her home the other day.
they started preaching to her and she said "i am a christian and i read the bible".
they said "that's great because that's what were doing is teaching from the bible".

i say talk to them and make it clear that as they stand on one side of the river, you are on the right side.
Dont try and avoid them if they come, be polite but clear and blunt...witnesses love gossip and stories so don't give them anything to report to friends or anyone else for that matter.
I hope this advice is helpful.

The WBTS really is a dangerous organization
by pratt1 in.
it has been well documented that some extreme cults have be able to isolate their memebers and then have them kill themselves because of their beliefs.. the dubs has always looked at these cults as being mislead by the devil and the dubs would never do anything as drastic a mass suicide.. however as a child i remember thinking that at the begining of the great tribulation, the fds might tell us to run, or congragate somewhere isolated and we would actually leave with on the clothes on our back, and anyone not heeding this warning would be killed at the battle of "armefogotten".. if the fds could get the dubs to leave their home and familes, bascially their lives behind, isn't it just a small stretch to think that a desicion to end ones earthly life could be the next request?.
also remember that particularily the jim jones event, some members had to be physically forced to drink the kool - aid while others freely drank.. does anyone else think that because of the power that the wbts has over it memebers, if they decided to do something drastic, many of the members would just blindly comply?

its a dangerous cult, they follow the bible commands on how murder is wrong, but as a final test they would kill people they love closely?
I would rather kill myself and fail than inflict pain on people i love.

JW vs Ex-JW
by Shazard inhey.
has anybody thought about how meny jw it takes to convert one non-believer into jw.
and how meny ex-jw it takes to get one jw out of organization?
-

usually JW's have a protection mechanism, when you present them with hard evidence they 'close down' lol.
It would take the person on their own to wake up and see what is happening, and then leave the religion...often being pushed or presented with information pushes them further into it.

im hurt, desperate, confused and considering this religion - advice?
by very_confused inlike the subject title says, i'm hurt, desperate and confused and don't know what to do anymore.
i'm so desperate to have something to live for that i'm considering converting to something like the jehovah's witnesses.
i know this might seem a bit extreme but please hear me out.

i am only 17 so you are under no obligation to take this advice or even read what i have to say.
JWs in themselves are usually people who were hurt at one time and ended up joining the religion, i know depression is hard to cope with but i got mine because of being a witness.
As a boy my stepdad used to push me around and hit me, my mum kicked me out for going to church...i can tell you worse but all i am saying is that its dangerous, people gossip, there are many hypocrites and its just not worth the extra depression i got when i tried to leave!
it destroyed my family, the are confused regarding homosexuals, for example my mum explained that homosexuals are sinners and can change with Jehovah's help, how can they change their genetic make-up? THEY CAN'T HELP IT!
Once you join i see you are conditioned and changed as a person, the scripture ''bad association can spoil useful habits'' so i was kept from spending time with family, and all my friends were JW's.
Do not please, i am begging you go for this.
