But I am a bit puzzled at the AA group meeting suggestion.... why exactly? Okay, HALT. Even though AA provides a lot of good things, it is NOT FAIR to walk into an AA meeting when you do not have an alcohol problem. Come on, people...........this is not right or fair to the people who walk into those meetings in order to connect with kindred spirits.........puh-leese!

im hurt, desperate, confused and considering this religion - advice?
by very_confused inlike the subject title says, i'm hurt, desperate and confused and don't know what to do anymore.
i'm so desperate to have something to live for that i'm considering converting to something like the jehovah's witnesses.
i know this might seem a bit extreme but please hear me out.

Yes, Nancy Householder here, finished my dog collars, after 2.5 hours in the field service today and all I can say is I was just noodling through this apostate site to reaffirm my faith in the Watchtower and the FDS and see if I could redirect any of the brothers and sisters who might have strayed.......and remind them that their eyeballs will rot in their sockets when Armageddon strikes........ya'll have a good day, now.....hear?

Wow, Confession and WillyLoman, such heartfelt honesty is touching and makes me think (for the umpty-umpth time) - what intellect and sincerity this organization has lost through neglect and dishonesty - what a shame......

Does the Watchtower Society Monitor this Board???
by integ inmaybe this has been addressed before, but after reading certain comments about people being "outed", i wonder if the wts really monitors this site?
if so, to what extent?
or is it just individual elders etc.?.

But I do think they rely on individual JWs, who report general findings to elders, who then take it to the GB.
My opinion: I don't exactly see individual JWs saying to the elders "Hey, I was cruising through this apostate chat room and guess what I found?" And I don't think they would "assign" individuals to do the monitoring because of the obvious vulnerability of them catching "apostate fever."
I also don't think they use it to try to find individual apostates. But as a window into trends and dangers - definitely.

".......just nibble on a few Awake articles to regain your strength. If you can keep that down, move on to a lightly prepared Watchtower. If any any time you start projectile vomiting, lie down with a moist KM on your head til it passes."
Good job, AA! -

What was your first Apostasy?
by Dune ini'm re-reading 1984 and the similarities between the wtbs and the "party" astound me, but anyway, it made me think of the time when i started to get doubts (thoughtcrime).. i remember once at this book study a sister commented about the 1914 and was reciting it's historical accuracy.
anyway, she went on to mention that the demons were probably learning everything about biblical prophecies from the wtbs.
i was 13 at the time but the comment made me cringe, i was thinking "why would superior beings need humans to interpret the bible for them?

Doesn't it all start with thoughtcrime? That's why it is so important in brainwashing to get you to censor your own thoughts.
I was about 16 and was going to do a thorough study with cross-references, secular material and all, not because I had doubts, but I wanted to be fully equipped "making sure of all things."
I ordered a huge bible encyclopedia at the KH - musta cost me $15! I started out and pretty soon got tangled up in the 607 fall of Jerusalem descrepancy. I went to one of the brothers for further guidance and was told "Remember, that is a secular publication - you can't trust it when it disagrees with the literature." I lost interest in studying on my own any further - why bother? $15 bucks down the drain! But a seed was planted.
My first apostasy was probably closing down my mind (thought crime) when Babylon the Great Has Fallen, God's Kingdom Rules was chosen as the book study publication. Just could not swallow it - things started to unravel rapidly from there.

Apostates!
by sinis inthought this was extremely funny and pathetic:.
http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=messageboard.viewthread&entryid=9944510&categoryid=0&issticky=0&groupid=100816827&mytoken=061cb8aa-0f86-4704-94f04bd494eaf4e0414927109.
well technically anyone in a religion other than our own is an apostate.

It is pathetic - these are young people who should be building their lives and looking forward to the future - instead they are carrying a message rooted in fear.

Why are so many JWs hicks?
by kristyann inokay, i know this might sound like an obvious question... but in all reality, why are so many jehovah's witnesses hicks?
why does it seem that there are so many in rural areas?
i hope this doesn't offend anyone... i don't really mean it to be an insult to any of you, cause obviously i consider most of you a lot smarter than some regular jw (or some stereotypical hick).

Hey Ellie, You are on to something, but get your thoughts in order before you take on an assault weapon! These folks are too sharp (and defensive) to let you get by with such a sweeping statement.

Baptisim/Disfellowshipping & Age
by Krystal ini apologize if i am re-posting a topic that was already discussed, but i have a question:.
i was baptised when i was 14 and disfellowshipped at 17... major life changing decisions all made before i was 18. .
has anyone ever tried to have their baptisim/disfellowshipping annulled based on the fact that they were too young to enter into such a contract?
