But is he a true sociopath, or is that the LDS in him?

The two pathologies can exist separately - lots of JWs and LDS are personable and caring people - but the two together could be dangerous: the lack of empathy and the justification for doing God's will gives one no moral compass. No wonder he comes off so stiff and robotic - he has to constantly check his impuses.

Romney also seems to have a temper problem kept just below the surface. Sometimes when he is expressing anger he actually chuckles, as if to ameliorate the impact.

Notice his latest gaffe - after discussing the tragic murders in Libya -

Everyone else in the room looks properly subdued. Romney looks like he just scored a win.

His inability to connect with people is clear and undeniable. It could be the Mormon in him, but I have though for awhile now that he has sociopathic tendencies.

The story about him leading a gang of boys at Cranbrook prep school in assaulting another boy with long hair and cutting it off, is very revealing. A ll the other boys involved in the assault against the gay student have expressed regret, often deep and profound, when interviewed as grown men. They are very sorry that they were involved. One even ran into the victim many years later, and apologized to him.

By contrast, Romney chuckled as he recalled the story. Apologized -if- he had hurt anybody. No empathy, no remorse.

Sociopath?

Romney also claims that he doesn't remember. And that would be scary. The people who don't remember things like that are typically people to whom it made very little difference, people who lack empathy.

Dental Problems are interesting

my appointment with the oral surgeon was this morning at 10 a.m.. the tooth i'd cracked had to be tended to.

i knocked the whole top off by eating a cube of ice.

(yes, the word "moron" comes to mind..:).

I don't think Medicare has any provisions for dental problems, Bizzy.

Actually they do, (including extractions) under certain circumstances.

I guess we're kind of looking for an explanation for how you got that much service for $85? Something is missing.

In my experience with dental care (which is extensive), even the $1900 you quoted would have been a bargain.

If someone has Harrison's book, check and see if she mentions the incident, as I could be wrong.

I devoured that book - had to special order it and was glued to it for 5 days. Wish I had never let it out of my sight - but stuff happens..............I do not recall the story.

The Medicare did bite off a huge chunk of my 7 day hospital stay. Don't know exactly how much the total is yet.

My deductible was $1000 out of pocket, though.

7 days? I would be surprised if your final bill is less than $70K just for the bed + $2,000 per day for everything else.

Again, thank God for Medicare. Pray that Romney/Ryan do not kill this benefit for your children, who will probably need it.
